One good example category: Category:British children's writers now contains 227 articles --almost all biographies of what is says-- while its English, Scottish, and Welsh subcategories contain 434, 37, and 19 articles. If I tool correctly (Combine wiki-Categories), 19, 1, and 10(!) of the latter overlap with the British.

  • Comment It is clear that the illustrator rather than the writer of the text is the primary winner (quoting the home page): "awarded annually ... to the artist of the most distinguished American picture book for children." As we say (where I may have selected the internal quotation): The Medal is "for distinguished illustrations in a picture book and for excellence of pictorial presentation for children". ... Components other than illustration should be considered as they bear on effectiveness as a children's picture book.[5]
Of course the quality of the text contributes to the effect of the book. But that is true of illustrated novels that win literary awards. C.S. Lewis received the Carnegie Medal for The Last Battle, which concluded the Narnia series, but (quoting our article simply): The author wrote to illustrator Baynes, "is it not rather 'our' medal? I'm sure the illustrations were taken into account as well as the text."[5]
For what it's worth I believe we have generally been right to rename categories so that writers and illustrators, even publishers and translators, are award winners and books are award-winning works. --and hate to see another copy of every page saved in order to insert a hyphen P64 (talk) 18:24, 8 May 2015 (UTC)

Eight teams did not win a game; seven were eliminated while Sweden advanced with three draws, Thailand out with one win. Nine teams were outscored in sum; eight were eliminated while South Korea advanced in a group where three were outscored.

Among USA-Can, Europe, and AU-NZ (12 teams from Europe and the British colonies), 10 advanced while Spain and New Zealand missed by one goal (as did Costa Rica, and perhaps others in earlier games). The first W tournament comprised 12 teams including 7 from Europe and the British colonies, of which USA and 5 Euros qualified and New Zealand was outclassed. Elsewhere two of five teams qualified --China PR and China Taipei, playing in southern China. Five teams were outscored, all outclassed (-6 at best), of which China Taipei qualified. Brazil won one game and were eliminated.

1995

8 from Europe and the British colonies of which USA and 5 Euros qualified, Canada and Australia outclassed. Five teams were outscored, of which Japan qualified (-2). Brazil won one game and were eliminated.

This left the Tsardom to be passed to Ivan's younger son, the weak and intellectually disabled Feodor Ivanovich.
