Page name

Can you change the page Michael Jagosz to Mike Jagosz he was more known to his shortned name Mike. Thanks A.R.M. 16:53, 1 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi ARMcgrath! I think you should file a requested move so that other editors can respond and provide input and support first. Last time I did this, I unilaterally moved the article Dunkin' Donuts to Dunkin', and other editors followed up with me with opposition and fair reasons and guidelines to support it (including a discussion that, if I remember correctly, came to a consensus to leave the page title alone). I don't want to be "that guy" again and just move something without discussion first. ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:43, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

A Sorry message.

Hello, Oshwah. I'm writing a note to you. I'm so sorry that I'm writing disruptive edits. You know disruptive edits is very bad. And you suspended me. If I do one more about that. I'm will be to banned for Wikipedia. I'm so sorry, Oshwah. But, I will always be on my side.

From, TannerGoethals3 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 03:54, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi TannerGoethals3! I appreciate the message. If you're being sincere and if you wish to make positive contributions to the encyclopedia, just refrain from making any more disruptive edits, keep your nose clean, and this will eventually become a thing of the past. :-) The best things to do in order to make sure that you remain out of trouble is to make sure that you read and understand Wikipedia's policies on proper dispute resolution, remain civil and respectful to other editors, refrain from edit warring, and ask for help when in situations where you're not completely sure. Again, I appreciate the message and I hope that you become a positive long-term member and contributor to the project. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:47, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

How do I create re-directs?

I don't know how to do that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Calvinkulit (talkcontribs) 12:51, 2 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi, Calvinkulit! The page Wikipedia:Redirect describes in details, what redirects are and when, why and how can they be created and removed. The page Help:Redirect contains more details on technical aspects of redirects. Hopefully they'll answer your questions.   --(talk page stalker) CiaPan (talk) 14:15, 2 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi Calvinkulit! As CiaPan said above, Wikipedia has guidelines and help pages to show you how redirects work. Click here to read the Wikipedia guidelines page regarding redirects, what they do, and when to use them - and make sure that you understand everything first before proceeding. Then, click here to go to the help page for instructions on how to create a redirect. It's very easy to do. :-) If you have any questions about anything on these pages, please don't hesitate to let me know and I'll be happy to answer them. Cheers :-D ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:51, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
Funny, both links you gave in your reply to explain redirects are ...redirects themselves.   --CiaPan (talk) 09:35, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

User:DavidJanet and User:DavidJanet88 appear to be sockpuppets of User:Otto4711

I don't exactly know enough about Wikipedia to know how to formally go about accusing someone of sockpuppetry, but this Reddit post seems to have some convincing evidence of a new case.

All of the accounts listed at the link you provided haven't been active or made any edits for over 8 years. The most recent active account listed made their last edit back in 2016. There would be no point at all in pursuing this matter and filing any kind of sock puppet investigation report would be a waste of time. I appreciate your diligence and for bringing this matter to our attention, but we're simply talking about very old accounts where action simply isn't needed; they're probably long dead and forgotten by now. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:00, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

FIFA World Cup

Hey Oshwah, I think I'm having a little difficulty. I will have this content in bold and I hope you agree with me that it's not needed when it comes to specific countries at the FIFA World Cup.

The FIFA World Cup, sometimes called the Football World Cup or the Soccer World Cup, but usually referred to simply as the World Cup, is an international association football competition contested by the men's national teams of the members of Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA), the sport's global governing body. The championship has been awarded every four years since the first tournament in 1930, except in 1942 and 1946, due to World War II.

The tournament consists of two parts, the qualification phase and the final phase (officially called the World Cup Finals). The qualification phase, which currently take place over the three years preceding the Finals, is used to determine which teams qualify for the Finals. The current format of the Finals involves 32 teams competing for the title, at venues within the host nation (or nations) over a period of about a month. The World Cup Finals is the most widely viewed sporting event in the world, with an estimated 715.1 million people watching the 2006 tournament final.

For a specific country (e.g. Germany) this content is unnecessary. I feel like I have been treated poorly. Hell, this even led to me losing rollback rights after I reverted someone's reversion of my edits (by @Ivanvector:). I was honestly not misusing rollback, I just wanted to revert to a correct version because they act like they don't give a four-letter word if the bolded irrelevant content is there. So Ivan incorrectly removed my rollback rights. I wonder when I can get them back. It even led me to a useless 31-hour block just for removing unnecessary content. I have been in general a good faith editor because I have taken down vandalism a lot.

See Spain for example. I don't know why users are reverting my removal if countries like Spain don't have the content. And I also wonder if I can get my rollback rights soon.

(edit) Now it's resulting in more edit warring, for example at England.

Any comments?

Thanks, Dolfinz1972 (talk) 02:01, 3 March 2019 (UTC)

Oshwah, see User talk:C.Fred#FIFA World Cup to save me explaining this for a fourth time. That other articles are missing something that's mandated by MOS means that it should be added to the other articles, not removed from those articles that do have it. (FWIW, if I hadn't been involved I'd have indeffed for this on the spot.) ‑ Iridescent 17:04, 3 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi Dolfinz1972, and thanks for leaving me a message here. It appears that Iridescent has sufficiently explained the situation and the issue to you here. What the perceived issue is with the lead section isn't relevant; what is relevant is that this is a content-related issue and it appears that you had your rollback rights revoked due to using them to revert edits in a content dispute and to engage in edit warring, which you've been blocked twice over the span of two days for and just over a week ago. The revocation of your rollback privileges by Ivanvector was a completely justified action to take; using rollback to revert the edits of others in a content-related dispute and to facilitate edit warring is perhaps the most severe manner in which you can improperly use the tool - and given your recent block log, it's going to take quite some time and your rebuilding of community trust before those rights will be restored onto your account again in the future. I highly recommend that you follow-up with the response and explanation that I linked you to, and make sure that you read and understand Wikipedia's policies on dispute resolution and edit warring. Understanding these policies and guidelines are going to keep you out of trouble. If you have any questions, you're welcome to ask me and I'll be happy to answer them - but if it's specific to this content-related issue and dispute, you'll probably receive a better answer by asking Iridescent or Ivanvector, or another editor whose involved directly and has more knowledge of the dispute at-hand. I wish you well, good luck with everything, and happy editing. :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:36, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

User Alvinwebster

Hi, Oshwah, it's one of your talk page stalkers here,   looking for your assistance.

I found a strange case of a user, who seems quite new here (account created on 8 January 2019) but has lots of very advanced information on his user page (User:Alvinwebster). After a closer examination I discovered the page was mainly a copy of Girth Summit's user page (User:Girth Summit). As a first step towards explaining and fixing the situation I asked Girth Summit for comments. Then I plan to ask Alvinwebster. I'm not sure any action should be taken until G.S. replies, but I hope you could assist in further proceeding as an uninvolved admin, if you don't mind.

Meanwhile I'd like to ask you a question (just out of curiosity): do we have any standard routines for resolving cases like this one, when user boasts about achievements, skills and privileges they actually do not have?

Best regards,
CiaPan (talk) 08:38, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Apparently Girth Summit took care about the case himself Special:Diff/886324460, so I suppose I disturbed you unnecessarily. ;) --CiaPan (talk) 16:19, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks CiaPan for brining this to my attention. I have indeed dropped the user a note, hopefully they'll remove the irrelevant content. If not, I'd appreciate any advice you can offer Oshwah - I wasn't sure weather to flag for CSD as vandalism, remove the dubious content myself, or what. I don't care about the imitation (the sincerest form of flattery, right?), but linking to my CVUA students' pages and claiming rights they don't have seems... dubious. Cheers GirthSummit (blether) 20:53, 5 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi again, CiaPan! It looks like you've done what I would've done myself, which is to let the editor that the user copied their user page from know about it (which in this case was Girth Summit). However, unless the user is trying to impersonate Girth Summit, or make false statements like stating they have user rights that they don't (like being an admin), it's not a violation of policy for editors and users to copy the user page and information of someone else and use it for their own. In these situations, we must always keep Wikipedia's policy on ownership in mind and remember that nobody actually owns anything on Wikipedia - even the user pages of accounts. If anyone has any questions about this situation, let me know and I'll be happy to answer them. :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:12, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi Oshwah - just to be clear, they were originally claiming to have permissions they don't have - not admin rights, but rollback, new page reviewer, etc. I left them a note on their talkpage, but I noticed they hadn't logged in for a few days so I went ahead and removed stuff that was directly about me, while leaving everything generic. Hope that's appropriate? cheers GirthSummit (blether) 20:47, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
Girth Summit - Perfect. That's what I would've done too had I seen those userboxes on the account's user page earlier today... thanks for taking care of that. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:28, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

Oshwah,

You asked me to let you know if it came to this - unfortunately, it has. See Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents#Continued incivility and defiance of consensus by Carmaker1. Thanks. --Sable232 (talk) 23:06, 5 March 2019 (UTC)

Thanks. And if I'm out of line in this situation, feel free to drop me a note and let me know. --Sable232 (talk) 02:43, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Sable232 - Given the.... huge amount of text that's on that ANI discussion, I think it's best that we just hang back, hold off on anything, and let the discussion come to a close by those who are involved and contributing to it. Otherwise, we're going to spend hours of time just reading through all of that text, and I'm sure that we can spend that time doing more productive things and knowing that there are users who are caught up there and are working to resolve the matter. If you have any questions or if I can do anything else for you, please let me know and I'll be happy to help. :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:47, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Understandable, and thanks anyway. That editor does have a tendency to... well, bludgeon (and obfuscate) the point, to put it simply.

I don't think anyone else is interested in sifting through it either though, as the discussion seems to have died off. --Sable232 (talk) 01:10, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Multiplicity

Oshwah, you really need to clone yourself. Three would be a good number, which would enable the clones to take 12-hour shifts, and sleep for 8-10 hours, ensuring two of you are always available round the clock. Resumption of IP Edit-Warring

Hi there, the IP editor who was causing problems at Christine (novel) has returned, and added a new IP to their list: 98.27.130.53. I'm happy to request page protection if you feel that would be the best option. Please note that I'm currently on vacation so my responses may take longer than usual. Thanks! Common css

about my common css, no it does not work. --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 20:35, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

Thegooduser - I figured so. ;-) That's (at least partially) because you're setting the color of a number of styles on your common.css page to be the color set by the variable 'colorname', but you don't declare that variable or set it to a color before setting styles to it. That's at least what I believe is going on. I don't know where you copied this code from, but the comments don't appear to point to where it came from. Let me know if the changes I made to your .css page result in any links turning red... this is what I set the variable I declared to be (just so we can see if anything changes). Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 21:33, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

Nope, I'll email you the screenshot, plus my Huggle now keeps crashing. --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 00:59, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Quick question

What does that checkmark mean next to your review of my user page? I'm guessing it means you approved it, but I'm just curious. I am anything but knowledgeable about Wikipedia, so did you approve it, or could that not be further from the truth? Mynamemeansnothing (talk) 23:36, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Mynamemeansnothing! Welcome to Wikipedia! To answer your question: All pages that are created by an account must be looked at and checked, and marked as 'patrolled' or 'reviewed' by an editor who is a new page reviewer (an account that has been approved and given the necessary privileges to mark new pages as 'patrolled' or 'reviewed'). The notice you received just now was simply letting you know that I marked the user page you created as patrolled... that's all. :-)
Since you're brand new to Wikipedia, I highly recommend that you go through and complete Wikipedia's new user tutorial before you venture into making any major edits or changes. It will provide you with many helpful walkthroughs, guides, interactive lessons, and other information that will be very helpful to you. Please let me know if you have any more questions and I'll be happy to answer them. :-) Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:45, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

What does it take to be a Wikipedia Admin?

What does it take to be a Wikipedia Admin? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Wuhoo15 (talkcontribs) 23:39, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

(edit conflict) Hi Wuhoo15 and thanks for leaving me a message here with your question. I'll be happy to explain the administrator role to you, and outline exactly who administrators are, and explain the process and expectations of users and how they would potentially become one.
Administrators on Wikipedia are volunteer users who are given (literally) a few extra buttons in order to carry out advanced actions that, for obvious reasons, can't be given out to everybody. That's the only difference between a Wikipedia editor and a Wikipedia editor who is also an administrator. Administrators have to follow all of the same policies, guidelines, rules, and norms that non-admins have to, and they have absolutely no "authority" above other users or accounts, nor do they have any kind of access to hidden "special things" like any exemptions from certain policies or rules, or more rights or "status" above other users to edit articles and content. Apart from the few extra buttons that administrators have in order to carry out those few additional actions and tasks, they are absolutely 100% equal and are exactly the same as non-administrators in regards to everything else - authority, power, "status", importance, and the right to make edits and changes to articles and content. They don't make up rules, block who they want, protect what they want, or do whatever they want - their responsibilities are to carry out the tasks that the community has allowed and outlined in the appropriate policies to carry out and only in situations that are deemed necessary and acceptable by those policies.
That being said, the administrator user right is a senior-level toolset that's only given to highly experienced editors who can demonstrate many years' worth of above-proficient and consistent policy knowledge, judgment, community trust, appropriate use of tools and policy, and other requirements the community deems relevant to examine before giving their support. It is not a user right that's given to new, novice, or even established editors on Wikipedia. To give you a good idea and perspective: I've been an editor since the beginning of 2007 (12 years), and I've only been an admin since August 2016 (2 1/2 years) - meaning that I was an editor on Wikipedia for just shy of 10 years before I was considered for the tool. You can refer to this guide, as well as this guide - for more information about how users become administrators, the process, the various requirements, and (in a nutshell) how difficult it is in order to become one. Most requests by users to become administrators fail, even by users with years of good experience. There are many good editors and contributors on Wikipedia who will never become administrators (for various reasons), and there are many requirements before even being considered for the role or even having your request taken seriously. In a nutshell: It's not easy.
I hope my response has answered your questions and provided you with a good explanation of the role, the responsibilities, what admins are and what they're not, and the general requirements and process that users go through in order to become one. If you have any questions, let me know and I'll be happy to answer them. Best regards and happy editing - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:09, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
(by talk reader) @Wuhoo15: More than five years of constructive editing, tens of thousands of edits, avoidance of stupid edits that earn you political enemies, and clue. Generally, if you're thinking about adminship you certainly shouldn't be one. We have people that will let you know if you were worthy. Chris Troutman (talk) 23:55, 10 March 2019 (UTC)
Chris troutman touches on something that is absolutely true... most administrators (at least the good ones) are those who were repeatedly told by other editors that they consider them to be "admins without the tools", and are repeatedly approached by other editors and told that they'd be an excellent administrator, that they're waiting for the day that they'd run, and have their "support vote" already. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:17, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Zali Steggall

Hi Oshwah,

I work in the office of Zali Steggall, a candidate in the upcoming Australian Federal Election. The page for Zali Steggall has been regularly vandalised since the announcement that she is standing as a candidate in the seat of Warringah against a former prime minister. Can we return it to a version of 20:10, 26 January 2019 and have the page protected until 31 May 2019, or a date after the federal election please?

Thanks [REDACTED - Oshwah]

Hi there! Thanks for leaving me a message here with your concerns. I'll take a look at the Zali Steggall article and do what's needed to put a stop to any disruption going on there. Thanks for the message and for letting me know about the issue. Just so you know, the article has been protected for 24 hours due to disruptive editing. I'll see if it needs to be extended for other reasons. Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:04, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi Oshwah, Zali's page is still being edited by people posting incorrect and inappropriate updates - the latest of which is a lingerie shot that has been photo-shopped as if it is Zali in it. It looks to me like Martin.j.fox is the person doing this. I'm not really sure what's going on as the lingerie photo is posted, then disappears, then appears again. Is it possible to get Zali's page completely locked (it seems to be semi-protected at the moment, not sure who initiated this) from editing until at least the Australian Federal Election, the date of which hasn't yet been announced but is expected to be mid May. Obviously we can't monitor the page minute-by-minute and given Zali's profile at the present time, these edits are proving extremely detrimental, time consuming and disruptive, an members of the public and media are quoting these updates in social media and in the press. Many thanks for your assistance. Cheers, Matt.— Preceding unsigned comment added by Matt712 (talkcontribs) 06:06, 16 March 2019 (UTC)

Please participate to the talk pages consultation

Hello

Our team at the Wikimedia Foundation is working on a project to improve the ease-of-use and productivity of wiki talk pages. As a Teahouse host, I can imagine you’ve run into challenges explaining talk pages to first-time participants.

We want all contributors to be able to talk to each other on the wikis – to ask questions, to resolve differences, to organize projects and to make decisions. Communication is essential for the depth and quality of our content, and the health of our communities. We're currently leading a global consultation on how to improve talk pages, and we're looking for people that can report on their experiences using (or helping other people to use) wiki talk pages. We'd like to invite you to participate in the consultation, and invite new users to join too.

We thank you in advance for your participation and your help.

Some personal comments from CiaPan

Re: #User Alvinwebster

Hi, Oshwah! Thank you for your approval for my actions. I don't speak English well (much worse than I write) and I'm sometimes afraid to make a big, stupid mistake as a result of missing some nuance - especially when it comes to a colloquial, everyday language. Your continuously encouraging comments increase my self-confidence in interactions with other WIkipedia users.

BTW I get used to see you fixing, helping, commenting and cleaning-up tirelessly 24/7 – and when your activity dropped recently to about 1..2 edits a day I started to think something serious happened in your real life. But you (almost) confirmed once here you are automaton, hence I sometimes suspect you might have no real life outside Wikipedia. That confused me much, and I'm really happy to see you again. I hope things are fine now. Have a good week! --CiaPan (talk) 08:51, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi CiaPan! Thank you for the message and the very kind words. They mean a lot to me to read them, and it makes me happy to see that my edits and actions have at least some impact to this community and some other editors who see them. For someone who says that they don't speak or write English well, I think your English seems to be just fine. Apart from some grammar and sentence structure issues once in awhile, you definitely don't need to be afraid that you're going to say something completely wrong or incorrect. Your comments and writing are usually well stated, and I don't see any issues with your ability to articulate exactly what you're meaning to say.
I was busy with some real life things over the last two weeks, which is why you saw my activity level drop for a little awhile. Things are fine for the time being, but I'll be going back and fourth between being active and needing to step away for a little bit to take care of some things in my life. Don't worry - I'm not going to disappear and I'm not going away or anything like that. I just have had a weird schedule which has allowed me to have the availability and activity level you mention, and I'm working to change that in order to be more consistent and less "editing 24/7 for almost a week, then disappearing for a week"... haha. A lot of my edits are semi-automated (I do a lot of recent changes patrolling that's mostly responsible for my edit count), but I also take extreme care to be available and able to respond and help other editors when they ask for it. :-)
Thanks again for the very kind message. It put a smile on my face and made me very happy! I hope we speak again soon... you know where I am if you need my input or help with anything; don't be afraid to ask. :-D Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:03, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

RE: Johanna Spyri

Hi, you recently sent me this message:

'Hello, I'm Oshwah. I noticed that you made a change to an article, Johanna Spyri, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it, please do so! If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 11:15, 12 March 2018 (UTC)'

However, I have not edited the page 'Johanna Spyri' - your message must be intended for someone else.

Hopefully your message can find its way to the intended recipient.

Many thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by 90.255.217.182 (talk) 09:18, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi there! The message you're referring to was left in response to an edit that was made back in March 2018 (almost one year ago today, actually). Since IP addresses can change from user-to-user, you're definitely seeing a message intended for someone else but who was editing through your IP address back when it belonged to them. You can ignore the message that you saw. :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:30, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Dr. Davangere Devanand

Hi, I noticed that you are undoing the edits on Dr. Devanand's page that I am making to make the info more current and complete. Please let me know what I can do to make the edits stick.

Thank you. 156.145.1.17 (talk) 15:13, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi there! Thanks for the message and for explaining your changes to the article. Just make sure that any changes you make are cited and reference reliable sources. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to message me here and ask. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:14, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi,
All info is from this APA cited source: Davangere P. Devanand, MBBS, MD. (2019, March 11). Retrieved from https://www.columbiapsychiatry.org/profile/davangere-p-devanand-mbbs
If I include this on the bottom of the page, will the edits stay?
Thanks.
156.145.1.49 (talk) 15:24, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Sure, so long as what you're changing is covered in the reference you're providing. If that's the case, then I don't anticipate you running into any problems. :-) Happy editing! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:25, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Cabinet of history, and thanks for leaving me a message here with your request. Unfortunately, the content you added to the article appears to constitute original research, or information you gathered yourself - either from being from this town, or seeing this for yourself. Your edit also doesn't comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. Remember that this is an encyclopedia - the purpose of articles and content is to use reliable sources to educate and inform the reader in a neutral and impartial manner. Please review and make sure that you understand the policies that I've linked you to here. ... getting back to you...

Hi Oshwah, ... I made the changes to Jerry Moss after he talked about announcing our engagement in the press. I thought it was important to be sensitive to the fact that they just recently divorced, while at the same time getting it out there that he and Ann have been separated for some time. It became official in 2016, and she posted it here http://www.zenyatta.com/news/looking-ahead ... Jerry and got engaged in January. Semi-protecting ITN/C

Hi Oshwah, I felt that semi-protecting ITN/C over a spate of vandalism was a bit excessive. There was an ITN/C discussion I was actively participating in (the North Korean elections) that I'm now unable to, until the protection has ended. I would log into my account but I placed an enforced Wikibreak on it a while ago and I'm unable to stay logged in. (WaltCip, logged out) --128.227.165.102 (talk) 16:26, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi there! I apologize if the temporary protection caused you any inconvenience and frustration. I felt that it was necessary to put a stop to the vandalism that was ongoing. The protection is only for four hours, enough time for the vandals and trolls sitting at their computers while in school to move on and do something else... If I can help with adding a response for you, I'll be happy to do that for you - just let me know. Also, if your account is on that Wikibreak enforcer script, I can turn that off for you temporarily if you'd like. Let me know how I can help, and I'll be happy to do so. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 16:33, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
I've reduced the duration set on the protection and cut it in half for you. If I can help make anything easier or less frustrating for you, please let me know. Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 16:35, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, Oshwah. Sorry about the trouble. In fact, if you could even turn off my Wikibreak, that would be great. Considering that I'm editing anyway, it just seems to be an extra hassle to get around. (User:WaltCip, logged out) --128.227.165.102 (talk) 20:00, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
No apologies are needed; I'm glad that you felt that you could come to me directly and express your honest thoughts and feelings. I don't hold the feedback left by others against them... they help me to evaluate my actions and make sure that I've done the right thing. :-) You're all set! I've modified the var in your common.js file and set it to Jan 1, 1999 01:01:01, which should no longer flag the javascript to force you to log out when you log into your account. Let me know if you still can't log into your account, or if I can do anything else for you - I'll be more than happy to help. :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:12, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Left a message

Hi Oswah,

you wrote to me that I left a message on this page.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_B._Moyle

and you said it was "less than neutral, hence you removed it".

I have no idea what you are talking about, I have never once edited on page on wikipedia. Maybe you are being proxy spoofed and you sent this to me on accident. Or maybe this message was meant for someone else.

I go to UCD and I definitely would not besmirch any professor from here.

Cheers (168.150.112.211 (talk) 20:39, 11 March 2019 (UTC))

Hello IP. IP-adresses are flexible, they shift around per whatever. Oshwah was talking to whoever was making an edit in 2017. If that wasn't you, then all is well. It's one aspect of editing via IP that this can happen. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 20:48, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi there! As explained above, the message was left in response to an edit that was made back in 2017. IP addresses move from user-to-user over time, and the message was intended for the person that the IP was allocated to at the time. You can ignore the message; there's nothing you need to worry about. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:51, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Tarmac

Hi Oshwah, could you look at semi-protection for Tarmac? A series of IPs is deleting DAB information without discussion. Thanks. - BilCat (talk) 21:18, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

BilCat - I went ahead and blocked the 2001:1970:4B5A:1D00::/64 IP range, as well as 2601:192:4400:7D43::/64. This should put a stop to the disruptive edits on that page. If it doesn't and if things continue, please let me know and I'll take another look. :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 21:41, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, as always. I'll let you know if the disruption returns, or I'll post at RFP if it happens when you're off-line. - BilCat (talk) 21:53, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
BilCat - You bet; always happy to help. :-) Perfect; sounds good to me! Until we speak again (which'll undoubtedly be very soon)... ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 21:55, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Please help

I was wondering if you would intervene. It concerns the user Admanny and the Australian Grand Prix page. The issue is that I was prepping that page for the upcoming race, something that is normal when the race is only a few days away. See the following page as an example: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Auto_Club_400&type=revision&diff=884827051&oldid=882773118 ... So, he keeps reverting my edit on the page in question, despite it being a good edit. And when I try to leave a message for him, he keeps ignoring the message. Please see if you can do something. Thank you. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 21:58, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Johnsmith2116, and thanks for leaving me a message here with your concerns and your request for help. I went ahead and applied full protection to the article in order to nudge you both to discuss the issue on the article's talk page. Since you both were engaging in edit warring, I left a warning on both of your talk pages regarding the disruption in order to be fair and neutral to both sides, and so that it doesn't present the image that I'm playing favorites toward anybody. Please continue to try and discuss the issue and dispute on the article's talk page, and reach out to the user directly and point him to that discussion. Hopefully what I've done will encourage him/her to participate and discuss the matter. Please understand that you were edit warring as well... don't make repeated back-and-forth reversions to the article like what you two were doing today. If the user doesn't participate in discussion and (after the protection expires) the user continues to edit the article and revert changes, don't revert it... instead, let me know and I'll step in and do what's needed to take care of the matter. If you have any questions or if I can do anything else for you, let me know and I'll be happy to help. Keep me updated and let me know how things go, and if the user works with you to resolve the dispute. I wish you happy editing and good luck with getting things resolved. :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 22:15, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

I noticed that you protected the page for Administrator editing only. But the placement where it is stuck at currently is not the place where I had put it. Would you put it where I had it, in the prepped position? Johnsmith2116 (talk) 22:08, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

I did in fact try to communicate with that user, but they did not respond to the message I sent to his talk page. ... did you see the question I asked above? Johnsmith2116 (talk) 22:12, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Johnsmith2116 - Unfortunately, unless there's a serious violation present on the current revision of the article (such as a BLP violation or violation of copyright), the current revision needs to stay as-is. When applying full protection to the article, I don't get to go back and pick a "good revision" that I favor or think is better and revert anything. I'd be choosing a side over another, playing favorites, and giving an editor an advantage over the other. That would be inappropriate and unacceptable behavior on my part, and I would be violating the protection policy and the community guidelines and norms if I did this. You two need to work things out on the article's talk page and come to a consensus and resolution together. I'm here to help; please don't hesitate to come to me with any questions, concerns, or if you need my input, advice, or mentoring over this dispute. I'll be happy to do what's needed to help the dispute come to a positive close. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 22:20, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Thank you for your effort. Initially, after the first reverting, I went to the user's talk page to leave a message, but it went ignored. After that, I didn't see the usefulness in leaving a message on that article's talk page, because no doubt the result would have been the same. ... I have two question, though. First, did you not see the merit in my edit? I thought that perhaps you would revert the page to show my edit, and then perhaps you could have frozen it there, as opposed to having frozen it where that other user had put it. And second, when that block is finished in a couple days, there is no doubt that the same behavior will continue, because, as I said, there was no getting through to that editor, which will very likely mean that they will continue to revert my page preparation as he did today. Johnsmith2116 (talk) 22:24, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Johnsmith2116 - From what you described in your initial message regarding what you were trying to do on the article, your edits seemed completely reasonable to me. I had no issue or qualm with what you were trying to do. So long as what you're doing is with the intent to help us improve the project and make the article better, I care less about the content itself (assuming no serious policy violations are occurring, of course). However, stepping in as an uninvolved administrator means that I don't get to take these efforts and thoughts into account. Regardless of what you believe is correct and what Admanny believes is correct - what it all comes down to is the fact that this is a content-related dispute and you two need to discuss things and come to a consensus. I do not cherry-pick "the right revision", nor do I look first or touch the article when applying full protection. What the revision is at the time it's applied is essentially the "luck of the draw". Unless there's a serious policy violation which warrants me to remove and fix it immediately, I don't care about whose revision is currently published while the article is protected.
When investigating a dispute between editors and the editing warring of an article and its content, the content itself is pretty much irrelevant to me (outside of the content being serious policy violations, of course) - what I care about is the disruption that's occurring, the behavior of the editors involved, and the policy and guideline violations that are going on. It doesn't matter who is "right" or "correct" regarding content-related disputes, reverting the article in a repeated back-and-forth manner is not allowed by anyone. This is why I added full protection to the article, warned you both for the edit warring on your user talk pages, and why I'm working with you here to provide input and assistance and to help you with what to do next. What matters to me is that the editors refrain from reverting disruptively, that they behave civilly toward others, and discuss the dispute, come to an agreement, and work things out.
I understand that the other editor has been ignoring your messages. Keep at it, and if the user continues about their business after the protection expires, don't revert the article. Come to me (or another admin) for help, or file a report at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Edit warring. If you have any more questions or need any more help, let me know and I'll be happy to lend you a hand. ;-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 22:51, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
One minute ago, when trying to respond to your 2nd to last edit, I received an "edit conflict", and then I saw your newest response here. I was coming here to tell you that, after re reading your other comment, I see that I initially missed your answer to my first question, and that I now in fact did see it. So, thanks for that. My second question is, suppose that when the freeze is up in two days, that the same behavior of that that user reverting my edit continues (which it likely will)? Will there be a different outcome of what you can do about it? Should I try to revert his revert as I did today, knowing it will not likely do anything? Johnsmith2116 (talk) 22:58, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Johnsmith2116 - No worries; edit conflicts happen and can be a mess sometimes to merge and handle. :-) To answer your question: Yes, if the user resumes making disruptive edits to the article after the protection expires, I have the ability to take things to the next step and I can step in and take the actions necessary in order to stop the disruption and assure that a positive editing environment is maintained. I would reach out to the user directly, let him/her know about the full protection and explain that you two need to talk and work together to resolve the issue. Point the user to the article's talk page and ask them to talk to you there. Then, start a discussion on the article's talk page and ping the user to notify them. Do all of these things, and then we'll wait and see what happens... hopefully, the user will participate and start responding and adding to the discussion. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:11, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Can you actually wait until Sunday after the race is done per WP:F1/Updates? Is it that hard? Admanny (talk) 23:10, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Admanny - Welcome to my user talk page! I'm glad to have you here. :-) I think both you and Johnsmith2116 should go to the article's talk page and discuss the issue and dispute there, and try and work things out in a positive, respectful, and civil way. I'm here and available if I can help in any way. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:13, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Well. It has been a day. Oshwah nothing has happened. I started a convo on the Aus GP talk page, and no response. Meanwhile, his contribs history show he is active on the wiki. Well? Admanny (talk) 01:12, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Admanny - So long as the user doesn't make any edits or reverts to the article, just move on and continue as you normally would. If the user makes any edits or reverts to the article, please let me know so that I can step in and take of it. :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:40, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
The protection expired, and he's at it again. Did not respond at all to my message on the AusGP talk page. Given that he has 2 past blocks, I was not surprised to see this happen again. It seems he backed off when I came into this talk page, then didn't respond to any of my requests for civil discussion, then went right back to reverting. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Australian_Grand_Prix&diff=887648331&oldid=887640847 Oshwah Admanny (talk) 01:17, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
Johnsmith2116, Admanny - Is this still an ongoing dispute? What's going on? Why are edits being made to the article without a consensus between the two of you first? ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:51, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Tatzref

I am at a loss as to what to do about the impersonation and campaign to discredit me. Is a Wikipedia user involved?Tatzref (talk) 23:58, 11 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Tatzref! I'm not sure about what's going on exactly regarding this issue; my concern was just about the link you posted and the fact that the information contained another editor's personal identifiable information. What I can say is that I've had "campaigns" started in order to attack, harass, doxx, and "discredit" me multiple times. The best thing you can do about it is to ignore it, continue editing, be civil and respectful to everyone, and follow Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If these attempts to "discredit you" involves things that aren't true and you've done nothing wrong, then you have nothing to worry about and their attempts will be feeble and useless.
I know it's very stressful, frustrating, and is a very hard matter to just ignore... I'm not saying this to blow off your issue nor am I trying to imply that your situation is nothing. It's certainly not nothing... but if you can put these feelings and emotions aside and just tune it out, you'll be fine and nothing is going to happen to you. Most attempts like these are just an effort to scare you, wear you down, intimidate you, and chase you away... if they have nothing on you, then they have no ammo in which to fire. If you have any additional concerns, or if you need more of my input, mentorship, and/or advice, or if you have any questions - please let me know and I'll be happy to help you with anything and everything I can. If any harassment or abuse starts to appear on Wikipedia, please let me know and I'll be happy to take care of it. :-) Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:08, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Hello Oshwah. Thank you for your advice. On my user page can I post a link to another site (https://justice4poland.com/about/comment-page-1/#comment-175230) where this impersonation is going on? It is directly linked to Wikipedia and also maligns TonyBallioni. Could Wikipedia not make inquiries with that site as to who has registered as Tatzref and is impersonating me?Tatzref (talk) 03:01, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Tatzref - I can't control the things that you and other people do outside of Wikipedia, nor do we have the power or ability to investigate matters and issues that are occurring outside the project... no one here will be able to do anything about what's happening on other websites. I would not advise posting the link until you know for sure that it won't violate any of Wikipedia's policies and guidelines - and even then... I absolutely would not add any external links to off-wiki issues, drama, fights, or attempts to harass or harm another person in any way. If anything that's happening on those external sites finds their way to start disrupting Wikipedia and you're found to have been the center of the matter involved, it will only put you under hot water here and make things much much worse... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:14, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Why can't zero be divided? --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 00:38, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Zero can absolutely be divided just fine. If we represent the equation as represent as y = 0/x, dividing zero objects into any number of groups x will always result in y being equal to zero. Essentially, dividing zero items into groups will always result in each group having... zero items! Easy... ;-) Maybe you meant to ask why we can't divide by zero? :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:50, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Yes, that's what I meant to ask! --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 00:57, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Because you'd be taking a group of things (which is in one group by default) and trying to split them evenly into zero groups - it's not possible. It would be like trying to take 10 chickens (which, by themselves, is one group) and split them into zero groups. You can't have zero groups of things. In arithmetic, where the division is expressed as y = x/0, there is no number which, when multiplied by 0, will give you the variable x (assuming x ≠ 0). ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:59, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

What is slope point form? Is it Y=Mx+b ? Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 01:00, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Nope. Point-slope form is an equation that is written as y - y1 = m(x - x1). The equation written as y = mx + b is in slope-intercept form. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:05, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Admin Userbox on GOLDIEM J

Just a head's up, I have removed GOLDIEM J's admin userbox, this was because it linked to the category 'Wikipedia Administrators' and that category should be filled with actual admins for several reasons. This was not meant to discourage GOLDIEM J from editing, and is not a reflect on GOLDIEM J's personalty, nothing like that. :-) --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 00:55, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Hello O. I need your help. Would you please put the PP template that you added here inside a<noinclude></noinclude> template. Current event portals always transclude to other pages and, without that template those pages show up in Category:Wikipedia pages with incorrect protection templates. Thanks for your time. Huggle

Hi,

Several times tonight, Huggle refused to send warnings to users whose edits I reverted because it thought they were older than a day, even though most were at most minutes prior. Is this a bug? It's jolly annoying having to use Twinkle to issue the warning because of this. Cheers. Adam9007 (talk) 01:09, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) Adam9007, Pinging Petrb about this... --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 01:11, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 Can you log out of huggle, then log back in again, then confirm that this is happening again? --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 01:14, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi Adam9007! Warnings are usually skipped being left by Huggle if the user just received another warning within a few minutes of you attempting to leave yours, and if the warning is following an edit made by the user that's very old. This can be disabled in Huggle's settings under the "Warnings" tab (it's the very bottom option with a tick box). Let me know if disabling that setting resolves your issue. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:15, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I know this sounds stupid, but make sure that your system time is correct as well. That can definitely cause a lot of issues (and not just in Huggle) if your clock is off sync and not set to the correct current time. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:18, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

(edit conflict) Yup, that would do it. No HTTPS sites will load, WiFi encryption would be out the window, DRM and licensing wouldn't function, networking between another computer would be dead, programs won't load ....essentially, if you really want to screw with someone and do something easy that will cause lots and lots of problems and things to stop working on their computer, just change their system date and time to be completely incorrect. ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:26, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Most of the users I reverted had no warnings...   My system time is GMT. Are you saying there's some sort of conflict between my system time and Wikipedia's time? Adam9007 (talk) 01:24, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 - If your computer's date and time are set correctly, then no - you're fine. :-) How old are the edits that you're reverting? Are they edits that were made just now and that you're reverting? I'm going to take a look at your Huggle config file and see what I can find.... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:28, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Adam9007 - Well, your Huggle config file hasn't changed since 2018, so it's definitely not the problem if you just started experiencing it today. Adam9007 - Lets start the troubleshooting from the beginning... On Huggle, there should be a tab in the interface called "System logs" - are there errors or entries in that log that would give a good clue as to why the warnings aren't being left at times? ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:39, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Found this in my Huggle logs "Adam9007 thinks that edit on enwiki to Snowboard by 69.130.166.76 (887332933) is likely a vandalism, but they didn't revert it " --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 01:42, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

(edit conflict) I don't know. I quit Huggle and had to load it to check. I did notice that Huggle said the warning wasn't sent because the edit was over 1 day old, even though it wasn't. Does Huggle save logs? Adam9007 (talk) 01:43, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 - Huggle should save logs to your system in a directory (if anything, there should be a way to enable logging). Let me double-check... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:45, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
I found this from my network log in the bottom right. --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 01:45, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
For what it's worth, I have Huggle open right now and am seeing a lot of timed out errors. Adam9007 (talk) 01:48, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 - What happens when you use a different internet connection or network while using Huggle? Could it be something with your ISP having issues? Just for kicks: Close out of Huggle, run a command prompt as an administrator, and enter the following command: ipconfig /flushdns. Does that make any difference? ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:57, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Difference to what? I did that, but I'm still getting timed out errors. I haven't reverted anything yet. By internet connexion, do you mean feed provider? I'm on my laptop at the moment and only have one internet connexion (apart from my mobile phone; I don't want to zap all my data  :)). I know my connexion can be right pants at times though. Adam9007 (talk) 01:56, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 - Okay, so you flushed your DNS and you're still having time-out errors. Have you rebooted your machine? I know it's a dumb thing to ask, but I want you to reboot your machine and see if this resolves the timeout issues on Huggle. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:59, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
I just made this revert, and got this in the log: 'Tue Mar 12 02:00:03 2019 Not sending warning to 112.78.186.35 for their edit to Food miles on enwiki because it's older than 1 day'. Adam9007 (talk) 02:01, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 - I can definitely confirm that the edit you reverted was made just a few minutes ago. What happens when you close Huggle and then run it as an Administrator? Doing this can resolve weird issues like this with many programs... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 02:04, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Well, I made a couple of reverts and haven't noticed anything yet, but that doesn't mean much; a lot of the time the sending of warnings did work before. It's something that sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. I'll need to do more testing. Adam9007 (talk) 02:10, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 - The next step would be to use a different internet connection. Just connect your computer to your phone's data network, and make enough interactions within Huggle until you can determine whether or not this is still an issue. Huggle shouldn't eat up very much data. All it does is make API calls between Wikipedia, which is the transmission of simple text back-and-forth. If you use it for just long enough to determine if your connection is the cause, I don't think you'll use much data at all... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 02:15, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Well, it's a little late for me to be testing that tonight, not to mention I'm currently dealing with a slew of vandals at Chatham-Kent, so I may have to test that tomorrow. Adam9007 (talk) 02:24, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
I just made this revert and got: 'Tue Mar 12 02:26:41 2019 Not sending warning to 47.41.228.6 for their edit to Wilson Greatbatch on enwiki because it's older than 1 day'. Running as an admin didn't help :(. Adam9007 (talk) 02:28, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 - Damn! I was hoping that this might resolve it..... No worries! Just do those things I recommended and keep me posted. I'm happy to continue helping you troubleshoot the issue. One way or another, we'll figure it out! ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 02:29, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
And again. 'Tue Mar 12 02:31:50 2019 Not sending warning to Professorburam for their edit to Banksia Park International High School on enwiki because it's older than 1 day'. Adam9007 (talk) 02:32, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 - There has to be something wrong that involves the system time or something... There's something that's causing Huggle to read the time incorrectly when looking at edits in the queue, and skip taking actions because it thinks that those edits are older than what they really are. Confirm this for me: You unticked that box in the settings I mentioned earlier, correct? The one where Huggle skips leaving warnings due to old edits or when the user's talk page was recently edited? ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 02:37, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Is there antivirus/firewall that's causing this? Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 02:39, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
(edit conflict) I did, but it didn't save. I've just unticked it again. Adam9007 (talk) 02:40, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 - Having that option disabled should be a decent workaround. Let me know what happens. I would also close Huggle and make sure that the setting remains unticked when you re-open it.... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 02:41, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
@Thegooduser: I'm not getting any alerts... Adam9007 (talk) 02:41, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
@Oshwah: I just quit and re-started Huggle. My unticking of the box did not save, and it reticked on loading. I had to untick it again. Adam9007 (talk) 02:44, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 - Okay.... I remember having this same problem you're having, too. Where the time isn't being read right and settings aren't sticking... Have you tried completely uninstalling and re-installing Huggle? I forget what I did in order to fix this. I might have you post a new discussion at Wikipedia:Huggle/Feedback and ping Petrb for assistance if uninstalling/re-installing doesn't do anything. This is something I remember, and for the life of me... I can't remember what the cause was.... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 02:49, 12 March 2019 (UTC)
I've just made this revert. I was asked if I really wanted to send a warning because the edit was over 1 day old. I said yes. Adam9007 (talk) 02:51, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

:Oshwah, I was just going to ask that, and you edit confilcted me But I wanted to say: after Huggle is deleted look in C:\Program Files see if there is anything left and then install it again.

Well, it's gone 3am where I am, so I ought to be going to bed  . I'll just say for now that I've noticed Huggle seemingly trying to edit my config file (I can see it in the Edit panel), but for some reason, it doesn't actually get edited  . Adam9007 (talk) 03:03, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

@Oshwah and Thegooduser: I've just done some Huggling via my mobile network, and just when I was thinking it was working well, the issue happened with this revert ('Wed Mar 13 01:42:11 2019 Not sending warning to 104.139.83.200 for their edit to Radio City Music Hall on enwiki because it's older than 1 day')  . Adam9007 (talk) 01:45, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 - It's gotta involve something going wrong with Huggle's ability to correctly read the timestamp of the edits you're reverting. The fact that this is around the same time of day that we talked about this problem and its ongoing occurrence is also a possible clue. Maybe it only happens during this time of day? If so, why? What time is it for you right now? What's your local time currently? Are you in a timezone where it's now the 13th of March? Or are you still on March 12th somewhere? ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 01:52, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Yes, it's 13 March for me, and it's 1:57AM (GMT). I don't often have the opportunity to use Huggle during other times of the day. I was just wondering if it could be an integer overflow or something like that; maybe it's adding or subtracting 2 timestamp values so close together that they go below 0 or over a certain value and ends up with a really low or high value, which Huggle interprets as the edits having occured over a day apart? Or am I clutching at straws? Or maybe even talking complete bollocks?   Adam9007 (talk) 01:57, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Adoring nanny! I would make sure that you read and understand Wikipedia's protection policy so that you know the situations where administrators can and cannot apply protection to articles and pages. The instructions listed on the top of the protection requests page will outline a lot of good information to know about as well - definitely give that a careful read, too. If you believe that another request is necessary and that you can provide evidence and diffs showing exactly why the page needs protection, then go for it! :-) Please let me know if you have any questions about the policy or process after reading those documents, and I'll be happy to answer them. Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 02:44, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Primetel Communications

The edit I did on the PrimeTel Communications page was done based on independent research. My information regarding the MCI trunks was based on doing a RESPORG lookup with one of their sex lines ( https://www.somos.com/our-solutionsenduring-power-voice/find-toll-free-number on 800-244-8587. The company returned should be Coore, Inc with a trouble reporting number of 215-922-1707. A local number portability lookup indicates it was ported to Verizon Business in 2016: https://apeiron.io/lrn ). Using this information, I noticed the publicly listed addresses for Coore, Inc and Mayfair Communications are the same physical building with different intersections (732 Chestnut Street, Philadelphia, PA and 101 S 8th Avenue, Philadelphia) - this information can be verified using Google Streetview. Additionally, attempting to originate the toll-frees directly on MCI's long distance infrastructure (this handles toll-free calls) results in the call being completed, whereas non-MCI toll-frees will not complete in this context. Finally, the Asterisk information was inferred from their use of the default Asterisk PBX prompts on their infrastructure. Additionally, while various public articles online point to the same thing (https://www.triplicate.com/csp/mediapool/sites/Triplicate/News/story.csp?cid=4395035&sid=923&fid=151), the RESPORG labels for Mayfair note their PrimeTel lineage: https://dipvtel.com/list-of-resporg-id-s-user/273-myr01-mayfair-primetel-3-1016.html .

I realize this is not a traditional, linkable source. While I am confident in the veracity of the information I extracted from the telephone network, it is not of significant consequence to see my contribution removed if you do not feel it is noteworthy. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2601:649:0:77C8:4599:506E:6416:3CCF (talk) 05:31, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi there, and thanks for leaving me a message here regarding your edit to PrimeTel Communications. You'll want to review and understand how to cite references in-line with content, so that you can take the sources you listed here and insert them to the content that you're adding. Make sure that you reference reliable sources, and that anything you add that isn't common knowledge is cited by a source. If you have any questions after reading the guide on how to cite references, let me know and I'll be happy to answer them and help you. Thanks again for the message, and I wish you a great day and happy editing. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:05, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Changes without a source (Zomba)

Hi! You wrote "I noticed that you made a change to an article, Zomba, Malawi, but you didn't provide a source. I’ve removed it for now, but if you’d like to include a citation to a reliable source and re-add it," - I am teacher at a secondary school in Zomba, so I added and changed some minor things to update the information. It comes from my personal experience of living and working in Zomba for 4 years. AnnieMalawi (talk) 06:01, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi AnnieMalawi, and thanks for leaving me a message here with your explanation regarding the edits you made to Zomba, Malawi. Sorry, but you cannot add content and "cite yourself" simply because you have a close relationship or experience with the article subject. Adding content citing one's relationship, experience, association, or even one's own website, work, or research constitutes original research, which is not allowed on Wikipedia. This is because it's impossible for other editors and readers to verify that content is accurate and true. It's as if I were to say, "I'm the President of the United States". Would you believe me? No! You'd want some kind of verification, source, or proof to show that what I'm saying is true. If you asked me for that information and I responded, "I'm citing myself as the proof" - you wouldn't just disbelieve my statement, you'd probably laugh and think that I'm crazy. I mean this with all due respect, but your edit and the "source" you provided in your message here is almost the same thing as the example I just talked about. There's no way for us to verify that the content is correct, and this is why original research is not allowed. According to Wikipeida's verifiability and No original research policies, all content on Wikipedia must be attributable to a reliable source, and specific information such as direct or spoken quotes, dates, data, information that's instantaneous, or other content likely to be challenged or removed - must be directly attributed to a reliable source via a citation. Please let me know if you have any questions and I'll be happy to answer them. Thanks again for the message, and I wish you a great day and happy editing. Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:09, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Hemel Hempstead changes

Hi, I notice that you have blocked a user, 139.180.67.225, for making unexplained edits to the article on Hemel Hempstead. It seems to me that their edits were actually correct, they just didn't say what they were for. For example, s/he removed a header saying 'Further reading' - in fact, there were two such headings, one underneath the other, and they'd removed the second, uneccessary, heading, so it was a correct edit, just not explained. Given that, and what looks like a history of constructive edits on their part, perhaps the block ought to be lifted? Regards, Neilinabbey (talk) 09:36, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Current events protection and whitespace

Hi! You've added a {{pp-dispute}} to the 11 March current events page, but it's on its own line, which adds whitespace between the boxes for 11 and 12 March on the portal page. There shouldn't be any newlines before the start of the {{Current events template, so both templates should be on the same line. I understand it's a twinkle edit and it's just for 24 hours, but the portal page would look better if you manually removed the newline. Cheers! Isa (talk) 13:22, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

MarchOrDie and WP:ANI

Oshwah, regarding this, I had to warn MarchOrDie. Do you mind giving him a clue on WP:ANI protocol or what is acceptable at WP:ANI? Flyer22 Reborn (talk) 22:54, 12 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Flyer22 Reborn! Sure, I can talk to the user if you feel that's needed. Let me know if it's still necessary and I'll be happy to do so. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:11, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Security

Hi Oshwah, good afternoon. I need help and advise. I had received 2 messages from my email "Someone (probably you) recently logged in to your account from a new device. If this was you, then you can disregard this message. If it wasn't you, then it's recommended that you change your password, and check your account activity." last week and as such I changed my Wikipedia password. I then received another email today with the same message. Is there a 2 step/level security log in in Wikipedia which I would set up and / what should I do? CASSIOPEIA(talk) 02:35, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

(talk page stalker) CASSIOPEIA, See WP:2FA --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 02:38, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
If someone logged in to your account, it needs to be blocked right away. --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 02:39, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
CASSIOPEIA - So long as you have a strong password, and (if available) 2FA enabled, you have nothing to worry about. These are just notifications to let you know about failed attempts that were made to log into your account. I get them all the time... they're just there in order to let you know about it. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 02:46, 13 March 2019 (UTC) Whoops, I misread your message thinking you were referring to the notifications you receive with failed attempts to log in. PlyrStar93 is correct; don't listen to my derpy response here. lol
@CASSIOPEIA: Those emails are for successful logins. If you clear your browser cookies and/or change your IP address you would probably get these emails if you login again. There is a good chance you don't need to worry but it's still a good idea to enable 2FA. Notifications for failed logins should read like this: "There has been a failed attempt to log in to your account from a new device. Please make sure your account has a strong password." -★- PlyrStar93 Message me. 02:56, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
What PlyrStar93 said above. Please excuse my stupid reply. lol ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:10, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
CASSIOPEIA I have a very strong password, that even I can't remember. lol Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 01:39, 14 March 2019 (UTC)
@Thegooduser, PlyrStar93, and Oshwah: Hi Thanks guys for being so helpful. I had got those message many times in the past as I travel frequently and using airport, facilities and friends devices with diff IP addresses in diff countries but I was a little concern that I received 2 emails back to back in 2 days last week. From the above explaination, I guess I had received those 2 notification because I changed my IP addresses (moving around a bit lately) and received the same message again today because I changed my password. Once again thank you guys! Cheers. CASSIOPEIA(talk) 05:00, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
CASSIOPEIA - Yup, that'll definitely cause emails to be sent if you're logging in from new IP addresses while you're traveling. It's a good notification to be alerting editors about, as this will bring compromises to their attention right away. I, however, receive the other notification that I described above and all the time - the one where lots of failed attempts are being made to log into my account. They bring me warmth and satisfaction to know that they're actually putting effort into trying to log into my account, and their efforts are all feeble and their time ultimately completely wasted.... lol ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 05:11, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Osh, Naughty hackers always try their luck. :). CASSIOPEIA(talk) 10:32, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
CASSIOPEIA - Indeed, they do..... lol ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 10:36, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Oshwah, How r you doing. I hope you are doing well. Please clarify y you deleted my page on wikipedia.thanks

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Rajacrp1 (talkcontribs) 07:46, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Rajacrp1 - Your user page was deleted under U5 of Wikpedia's speedy deletion criteria. In short, the content you added to your user page looked to be intended to advertise, promote, and host links to an organization and other content that was not Wikipedia-related. Please review and make sure that you understand Wikipeidia's policies and guidelines regarding user pages, as well as what they are not to be used for. The guideline page states that user pages are not to be used as a forum, resume, social networking profile, or web host or for purposes unrelated to Wikipedia's goals. Your user page clearly violated these guidelines, which was why your user page was deleted just earlier. Please let me know if you have any questions regarding Wikipedia's policies and guidelines on user pages, of if I can be of assistance with anything else - I'll be more than happy to help you. Thanks for the message, I hope you understand, and I wish you a great day and happy editing. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:56, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Reverting of 737 MAX 8 edit?

Dear Oshwah,

Can i ask why my edit was reverted? I find the map more helpfull than an photo of the crashed plane. If you keep it reverted could you please place the map on an other place on the wikipedia article? I am working at the moment to update the map, and think to have it updated by this afternoon.

Greetings, MartijnWo — Preceding unsigned comment added by MartijnWo (talkcontribs) 09:25, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi MartijnWo! I had just realized that I reverted your edit by mistake when I saw that it appeared to have been restored back onto the article. Please accept my apologies; the revert I made wasn't intended to be made to your edit. If I'm incorrect and your changes were not completely restored back onto the article, please let me know and I'll be happy to make sure that it does. Thanks for leaving me this message, and I hope that my revert didn't cause too much frustration upon you. :-) Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:30, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Hello Oshwah,
I dont know if it is just me but it does not seem the map is back on the page? If it is just me, sorry. But if something went wrong could you add it again?
It was not too frustrating, but just a bit confusing for me :).
Best Regards, MartijnWo — Preceding unsigned comment added by MartijnWo (talkcontribs) 09:35, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi MartijnWo! I'm happy to hear that the inconvenience didn't cause any frustration. :-) Take a look at the article again; your changes should be active and live now... Let me know if you still don't see your changes present and I'll be happy to troubleshoot the issue with you. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:40, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi Oshwah! I can see the map again. Thanks for you quick response! Greetings MartijnWo — Preceding unsigned comment added by MartijnWo (talkcontribs) 09:43, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
MartijnWo - Excellent! Thanks for letting me know that the issue was resolved. You're very welcome; it was the least I could do given the fact that I created the problem in the first place. ;-) I wish you a great rest of your day and happy editing with the article and its content. Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:49, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Edit to Gus Johnson page

Please review my edits, the channel link was broken and 404'd. I have fixed the link and it now goes to his official channel. Also only changed the stats o reflect his current subscribers and views. 111.69.80.197 (talk) 09:26, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi there! The reason I reverted your edit to the Gus Johnson (comedian) article was because you did not cite or reference any reliable sources to verify that the changes you made were accurate and true. If you'd like to update the information in the article, you just need to locate a reliable source that supports and verifies the new information, then cite it along with your changes to the article. Please refer to the guideline pages that I've provided in my response here, as they will provide you with instructions and walkthroughs with how to do all of this. If you have any questions regarding this process, let me know and I'll be happy to answer them and help you. I hope you have a great rest of your day, and I wish you happy editing. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 10:02, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Does that channel being his official verified channel not count? And the fact that the link that was there went to a non-existent channel. Both his twitter, facebook and his creator page on the "Shorty Awards" all link back to that channel. There are no sources or citations for the broken link, hence the correction. 111.69.80.197 (talk) 10:08, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi there! Were these links and references already added and present on the article? If so, then please accept my apologies for missing this and for reverting your changes; please feel free to re-add the information you modified back to the article, and please don hesitate to let me know if you have any more questions of if I can do anything else to assist you. I hope you have a great day, and I wish you happy editing. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 10:17, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Two out of the three references already present support "gustoonz" being his official channel name/link. It seems the was an error when originally creating the page and his display name was used in place of his channel name, which is needed in order to create a link to the YouTube channel itself. 111.69.80.197 (talk) 10:22, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
I see. Like I said, so long as the information being changed is referenced, fine by me. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:56, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

submission for Bullyology

Hi Oshwah -

Can you tell me why my recent entry for Bullyology was deleted and what I need to do to fix it? Bullyology (talk) 13:03, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

@Bullyology:(talk page watcher) Looked promotional to me. Apart from Oshwah's advice, user:dlohcierekim/g11 is a message I leave that might be useful. DlohCierekim 13:08, 13 March 2019 (UTC)
Bullyology - Dlohcierekim is correct; the page you created was deleted due to meeting G11 of the speedy deletion policy. Pages that are seen as blatant advertising will be deleted under this policy. If you need help with creating a page, I'd go through and complete Wikipedia's new user tutorial, and then have the "your first article" wizard help you. Please let me know if you have any more questions and I'll be happy to answer them. Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:00, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Page Deleted--Langston J. Dunham

Hey Oshwah,

What can I do in the future to not have my own page (Langston J Dunham ) deleted?

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Langston J Dunham (talkcontribs) 14:49, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Langston J Dunham, and welcome to Wikipedia! We're glad to have you here as an editor and contributor. Your user page was deleted because it met U5 of Wikipedia's speedy deletion criteria. In short, Wikipedia has policies regarding user pages, including what they're not to be used for. User pages need to be primarily focused on Wikipedia and improving the project. They're not supposed to contain your autobiography, content that's not Wikipedia-related, or anything that resembles a social network profile. See Wikipedia's policy sections that mention this here. Please let me know if you have any more questions and I'll be happy to answer them. :-) I'm also willing to help you with anything you need - don't be afraid to ask! I hope you have a great day and I wish you happy editing. :-D ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:08, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Bullyology

Hi -

I had previously created a submission using someone else's username and password (which I didn't realise was a no-no, and she didn't either). I would now like to re-submit this under my own username/password. I am not being paid for this, but do know the subject of this entry (the owner of the business Bullyology). I believe when I submitted the first time, it was deleted by you on the grounds of being unambiguous advertising. I would like to submit again, but have no idea which part has been dee,ed 'advertising' by Wikipedia. Can you clarify?

I'm new to Wikipedia, so not too familiar with the rules. Any help appreciated.

Cheers, Kevin Casey — Preceding unsigned comment added by KCasey55 (talkcontribs) 22:08, 13 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi KCasey55! The account you're using now (KCasey55) - does this belong to you and only you? Are you the only person who has access to this account? No one else knows your password but you, correct? If so, then you're fine and you can resubmit the draft article as you wish. :-) Please let me know if you have any more questions and I'll be happy to answer them and help you. I hope you have a great day and I wish you happy editing. :-D Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:11, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Continuation of Demographics of Mexico discussion

Greetings Oshwah, I was meant to reply in the section I opened weeks ago [1] but I see it's been archived, I couldn't reply sooner because I spent the last week abroad. As an answer to your reply [2] yes, I think I'd like your help to solve the conflict in the article, to which I've made some modifications today, firstly, I restored the data [3] that, as I have previously said, was removed by the opposing editor under claims that shouldn't have place in wikipedia (i.e. dark blond hair and green/light brown eyes not being white people's traits) and had nothing to do with the sources he was presenting, sencondly I reincorporated the text that produced the discussion with a disclaimer of being "under discussion" [4], thirdly I incorporated the claims of the opposing editor and his sources to the article [5], followed by my claims and my sources [6] (I believe the discussion is easier to follow this way, presenting the sources as they are, because if you look to the talk page, the replies of the opposing editor are enormous and very hard to follow through). I'd like that you help me monitor the evolution of this discussion and give your opinion about it in case the other editor becomes conflictive again, thanks in advance. Pob3qu3 (talk) 00:03, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Pob3qu3! Thanks for responding and for following up. Please accept my apologies regarding the previous discussion we had becoming archived before you could respond - as you can imagine, my user talk page receives a lot of messages and requests for assistance. I have to archive discussions that appear to have gone stale so that it doesn't grow to a large size and make it hard for editors to read through it or respond to messages. I'm obviously no expert with the article subject or the topic area, but I'm more than happy to help mediate any disputes that are currently still ongoing. I took a look at the article's history page and I see that HueyXocoatzin hasn't edited it recently - is he/she still participating in any discussions with you? Are you two working things out? ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:21, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
Thanks for your reply. To answer your question yeah, seems like the discussion has died out, but if it ever reignites you can be sure I'll let you know. Pob3qu3 (talk) 03:28, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
Pob3qu3 - Thanks for the response and the update. Sounds good; if it picks back up, you know where to find me. ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 22:52, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Unexpected page deletion

I recently created biography page for Dr. Arya Veer Bhalla but unfortunately the page was deleted (U5: misuse of wikipedia as a web host). Please suggest me why such happened and suggest me ways to get rid of it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Aryavirbhalla (talkcontribs) 07:27, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

@Aryavirbhalla: (talk page watcher) If I may be so bold, it had a number of problems. It was promotional in tone. It used wp:puffery. Please use user:dlohcierekim/g11 for information about that. It also did not meet user page requirements. Please see user:dlohcierekim/u5 for lots of info on that. To be an article, it would need content cited from reliable sources that are unconnected with the subject and have a reputation for fact checking. Hope this helps. Request page protection

Hallo, @Oshwah: please protect page of East Java, someone often vandals on infobox. Thanks; OktaRama2010 (talk) 17:29, 14 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi OktaRama2010, and thanks for leaving me a message here with your request. I apologize for the delayed response; I was busy and I'm just now getting caught up with all of my Wikipedia messages, emails, pings, etc. :-) Looking at the article's edit history, it doesn't appear that page protection is necessary at this time. However, if you see disruption picking up and by multiple users and at a rate that is significantly high in rate, please don't hesitate to let me know and I'll take another look. You should also file a request for page protection here in case I'm not around. You'll receive a quicker response that way if I happen to be idle. Hi Cyphoidbomb! I took a look through the connected block logs and noticed that one of them was tagged as sock puppets of Caidin-Johnson. I originally thought that this was another one of Nsmutte's, Incorrigible Troll's, or My Royal Young's LTA attempts... but I might be wrong here. Hi Oshwah

A recent page called Remove Kebab is attracting persistent IP disruption and its becoming a magnant for people to express anti-Muslim sentiment [7], [8]. As the article touches on a aspect on the Christchurch shooting, IPs who are making changes are doing so on a WP:RIGHTGREATWRONGS basis. Could you place the article under page protection? Maybe a Sockpuppet

Hello, while I was looking overList of Malayalam-language authors's revision history I came across 2 users (Midlaj Khan basheer) and (Midlaj Raza Khan) who have very similar names along with editing the same article within 2 hours of each other.

Is this enough to open an investigation? And if so how would I do that? Best, A 10 fireplane Imform me 18:36, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi A 10 fireplane! Great question. Seeing two accounts that have very similar usernames can certainly arouse suspicion. However, you should also see if there's any evidence of these user accounts being used in a manner that violate's Wikipedia's sock puppetry policy (a list of uses that would violate this policy can be found here). It's entirely possible that the same person just stopped using their first account and then created another account with a username they thought was better. That happens quite often, and it isn't a violation of policy to do that. However, if you see attempts to be deceptive, perform good-hand / bad-hand editing, evade blocks, warnings, sanctions, etc or use them in order to cause disruption together - then you can file a report at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations; just scroll down the page, expand the "how to open an investigation" instructions, and follow them carefully. These instructions will help do most of the hard work for you and create a report on a new page. Once this is done, you'll need to edit the page and fill in the information missing (again, read the instructions). If you run into any questions or get stuck anywhere, let me know and I'll be happy to help. :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:44, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Hello I have reputable sources from the BBC

It is currently all over the news — Preceding unsigned comment added by Jay Rabadia (talkcontribs) 19:23, 11 February 2019 (UTC)

Jay Rabadia - When adding content like this to articles (that's controversial, contentious in nature, or if it contains any information beyond common knowledge), you must locate reliable sources and cite them in-line with the content you're adding. This assures that the content you're adding is accurate and true. On another note, the content you're adding appears to violate Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy. It contains words like "cash-strapped" and "financial crisis", and uses specific words and phrases that make the text appear to take a certain viewpoint or imply commentary or inject opinion; this isn't allowed, and we must write content that's neutral and doesn't appear to take a side. If you have any questions regarding the policies I've linked you to here, please let me know and I'll be happy to answer them and help you. Thanks for the message, and I wish you a great rest of your day and happy editing! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:50, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Beanfield

Hi, I see you've reverted, but it doesn't make any sense to me. That section isn't really much of a background to the events of Beanfield, the opening paragraphs already do that well enough. Instead, it goes back to some general history of free festivals which is already covered at [[9]], therefore isn't entirely appropriate again here I would have thought Altcurrents (talk) 18:56, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi, I've re-written to a much more shorter, succinct Background section - it really does not need a regurgitating of what's already on the Stonehenge Free Festival article here, but have kept enough to 'set the scene'. Removed a ref which wasn't entirely accurate and that image - my plan is to upload some new images shortly to improve this article. Hope this is acceptable. Altcurrents (talk) 19:23, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi Altcurrents! Thanks for leaving me a message here with your explanation of your edits. My revert here on Battle of the Beanfield was in response to your edit here that removed an entire section from the article with the edit summary stating that the content was repeated and already stated in the article's summary paragraph. I definitely understand why you removed the content, and I completely believe that you did this in good faith and believing that you were improving the article - so no worries! You're taught here to be bold and edit what you think should be improved. Mistakes made in good faith are completely normal; just listen to the feedback you receive and don't take offense if an edit is reverted (like in this situation). The reverts and the feedback are there to help you. :-)
Just know that articles on Wikipedia that are written properly contain a summary paragraph that does exactly what you removed the content for: It's supposed to summarize the information that's been added to the body of the article. This, as well as other editing guidelines, are detailed on Wikipedia's manual of style page (specifically, the article layout manual). If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be happy to answer them and help you. Again, I welcome you to Wikipedia and I hope you have a great day. :-) Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:58, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi there! Okay, sounds good - feel free to search for reliable sources and then cite them in-line with the content you're adding to the article. So long as you do this and that your edits are made in good faith and with the intentions of improving the encyclopedia, then you'll be just fine and you shouldn't run into any problems. Thanks for the messages, and I wish you good luck and a great rest of your day. Happy editing! :-D ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:00, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Mynamemeansnothing! Thanks again for reverting that vandalism, and you're very welcome - you did a great thing by removing that content and it was the least I could do. If you're interested in getting into recent changes patrolling and removing vandalism, please feel free to visit this page for tips, information on how to get started, and guides to help you with making patrols and what good tools to enable to help you with removing vandalism and warning users. I was wondering if you could review my request, lol, you don't have to. --Thegooduser Life Begins With a Smile :) 🍁 20:27, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
It would probably be better for another admin to review your request and make that decision instead of having me do it. Since we interact very frequently, having me do this wouldn't be appropriate or fair. It could incorrectly give off the image to other editors and be misinterpreted as me playing favorites with certain users over others, and/or that I'm willing to hand out user rights to editors who I "favor" or just because they ask me to. This way, you'll receive an evaluation that's honest and fair and from an admin who will give an objective analysis. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:43, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

reverted my edits on https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Organic_food

I made edits anonymously about the nutrient content (forgot my password - i know not an excuse!). The original and reverted wording is serious cherry picking of the original article Barański et al (2017). The text suggests their principal finding is that 'These studies generally suffer from confounding variables,' whereas their principal finding was as I indicated: for many parameters, organic produce is superior to conventional produce. Martingoodson (talk) 22:47, 18 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Martingoodson! Thanks for leaving me a message and for letting me know. How many anonymous edits did you make on this article? Was it just this edit? Or are there more? I'm asking so that I can suppress your IP information for you and keep that information secure and private, and not accidentally suppress an edit by an IP that you didn't make. Let me know ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:03, 18 March 2019 (UTC)
Thank you yes. This was the only edit. I was looking for information on the topic and realised there was a the disparity between the meta-analysis paper and the text. Martingoodson (talk) 08:01, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi Martingoodson! Thanks for responding and for letting me know. I've suppressed the IP address for you so that this information is private and can't be seen by anyone. The reason I reverted your edit was because I felt that didn't adhere to Wikipedia's neutral point of view policy by calling the strength of given evidence, "good or moderate that, for many parameters, organic produce is superior to conventional produce". I felt that this was an injection of opinion or commentary, which implies and presents a certain point of view. Feel free to edit and update the article and improve it if there are issues; I just wanted to address the neutrality concern that I saw. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be happy to answer them and help you. Thanks again for the messages, and I wish you a great rest of your day. :-) Happy editing! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 08:09, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

User:Stephen Adriano and User:Lilit'sassistent

Hi Oshwah. You blocked these accounts per Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Lilit'sassistent/Archive which means that Draft:tokionine and also File:Tokionine.jpg probably also should be deleted as well since it's unlikely that the person beyond the socking is ever going to be unblocked or able to try and resolve the problems with the draft and the file. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:37, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Marchjuly! Thanks for the message and for your thoughts regarding the draft page and the image that the blocked user uploaded and created. I'm going to leave them be, as deleting them requires a valid criterion for speedy deletion to do so (I couldn't come up with any on the top of my mind that would be okay to use). Worst case scenario, the draft and the image will both wind up deleted due to being abandoned and having no license / copyright information provided. If you find a valid CSD to tag each page with, please do so and then let me know so I can take a look. ;-) Thanks again for the message, and I hope you have a great day! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 05:47, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
No problem. The image possibly could be tagged per WP:F9, but it will be deleted in a day or so regardless; the draft, however, will take longer before it's deleted per WP:G13 so maybe WP:MFD would be a good idea instead. -- Marchjuly (talk) 05:55, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
Marchjuly - Yeah, the image will be gone soon; no need to worry about what's going to happen to it. ;-) The draft, however, will take longer to be deleted per G13 (as you correctly pointed out). I agree that MFD might be the way to go if you believe that it should be deleted sooner. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:00, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Thank you for your thorough investigation, I know you were just being cautious and doing your "job." However, since the article was deleted via AfD (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Alex Kuch) and likely recreated by an UPE, should it now be moved to a draft? Hi HickoryOughtShirt?4! Thanks for the message! I appreciate that you understand that I have to make absolute sure that what I'm doing is the right thing before I do so - especially when it comes to blocking or performing other admin tasks. :-) The article doesn't seem to have expanded much upon the previous article that was deleted following the AFD, so I went ahead and deleted it per G4. Thanks again, and I hope you have a great rest of your day. :-) Happy editing - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:05, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi there, and thanks for leaving me a message here. The account has been blocked due to the username being a violation of Wikipedia's username policy. For the account to be unblocked, you need to log into the account, navigate to the user's talk page, and follow the instructions provided in the block notice to request the account be renamed to something else. Once you've done this, I can rename the account and unblock it for you. Make sure that you log into the account; you can't request an unblock unless you're logged in. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be happy to answer them. Happy editing! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 09:23, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Thanks for unblocking me

Thanks Oshwah, do you know why I was met with something like "This username is too similar with Connie hammond" when I tried to register as "Connie Hammond"? That would have avoided being banned in the first place. Did such account exist already and I was reassigned the username? Not important I guess, just trying to understand. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Connie Hammond (talkcontribs) 20:16, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Connie Hammond! Welcome back! You're very welcome; I'm glad I could help resolve the matter and make sure that your username was in compliance with policy. Good question! You received this error when trying to register your account with the "Connie Hammond" username because another account already exists with a username similar to yours ("Connie hammond", with a lower-case 'H' spelled in the last name). To prevent impersonation, abuse, confusion, and other issues, Wikipedia will disallow the creation of an account if it's similar to another (such as in this situation). However, the other account was registered many years ago and has made no edits... so I went ahead and overrode this restriction when I changed your username for you. In short, you have nothing to worry about and you'll be able to use this account under your current username without any issues. If you have any more questions, please don't hesitate to ask - and I'll be happy to answer them and help you. :-) Happy editing! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:22, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Please help to stop an edit war in Merge sort

It all broke out when a user removed an illustration (special:Diff/887750333), which has been there for about 13 years (see Special:Permalink/91583531#Analysis). His edit summary seemed untrue and confusing to me, so I asked him for some explanation for his action (User talk page#Merge sort). He gave a reply at Talk:Merge_sort#animation which I do not comprehend. Anyway, I don't think the removal makes a big harm, whether justified or not, so I just left the talk.

However, some other user seems to think the image was important, and reinstated it (Special:Diff/888502969) improving the caption at the same time (Special:Diff/888502969 Special:Diff/888503335 – the link fixed by CiaPan on 23 May 2019) to explain what aspect of the algorithm it depicts. The remover removed the image again, even though he has declared before:

if you really think it's better to include, then feel free to put it back; I won't continue to object.

Neither my level of English nor my mediating skills entitle me to intervene in this conflict (the more so because I initially have been on one side of the barricade, even though there was no barricade yet at the time). Could you, please, ask both parties to stop wasting their time for warring and resolve the conflict in a civilized manner? --CiaPan (talk) 23:30, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Wow, that was REALLY fast! :) CiaPan (talk) 23:33, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi CiaPan! Thanks for leaving me a message here with your concerns and your request for help. I obviously can't cite my personal experience and career (since it would be original research), but I can definitely tell you that the .gif animation removed from the article absolutely depicts a merge sort. ;-) From the image, you can see that the algorithm divides the list of numbers into smaller sub-groups, sorts them, and then sorts the larger sub-groups up until the entire list is sorted. I believe that his response to you is simply stating that the animation doesn't show what he believes should be. I don't agree, but my opinion is irrelevant when acting as a neural party and purely in an administration role. From there, Jrheller1 restores the image, then Deacon Vorbis reverts the restoration, and things go back-and-forth from there....
I've applied full protection to the article and will apply it to any other articles that this edit war is affecting, and I'll be warning both users involved in regards to edit warring and following Wikipedia's dispute resolution protocol to discuss the dispute and come to a consensus. Please let me know if I can do anything else for you, and I'll be happy to do so. Please don't hestitate to let me know if you see any other articles or pages that this dispute is affecting and I'll be happy to take a look and handle it. :-) Thanks again for the message, and I wish you a great rest of your day. ;-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:42, 19 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi, Osh! Thank you for all the precise explanation, both on the image in question and on actions you took.   AFAIR, I did not reveal my professional experience at Wikipedia, too, but ...with decades[The exact number available via e-mail on request.] spent on computer programming I have no problems with interpreting and understanding the dot-cloud illustrations of sorting algorithms. My question to Deacon was not 'what does the animation depict' but rather 'why do you think it's not what all belive it is'. I know the image is correct, and I think it is appropriate in the article. Anyway, if it is any problem for User:DV, I would let him have the image deleted. It wouldn't harm much.
I'm not happy though to see edit warring on such detail, and that's why I turned to you. Just for moderation. Thank you once again - and yes, be sure I know where to find you, should I ever need any administrative help again! Good day, good night. It's 1:30 AM here, time to go to bed. --CiaPan (talk) 00:27, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
CiaPan - You bet; always happy to help. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 05:54, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
  • The animated image conflicts with the algorithms presented in the article. What the animation depicts is a merge sort implemented using a queue instead of a stack (recursion). A queue based implementation results in a breadth first repeated splitting of the array until the size of runs is reduced to 1 element per run. The queue approach is not normally done because the queue space complexity is O(n), and the queue approach is not mentioned anywhere in the article. A stack approach is depth first, left first: the array split in two, the left half split in two, the left quarter split in two, ..., then and only when the leftmost two runs of size 1 are produced does the merge process begin, following the stack chain up and dawn in a depth first, left first order. A simpler fix would be to show a bottom up approach. In one step, the initial array is separated into n runs of size 1 (this is really not a step, as the array is just treated as n runs of size 1 without any actual data manipulation), then typically even and odd runs are merged in breadth first order. This would only require removing the intermediate split steps shown in the animation. Rcgldr (talk) 21:40, 21 March 2019 (UTC)
Rcgldr - Thank you for responding to this discussion and for providing your input. If the .gif animation is inconsistent with the other images, media, and examples published in the same article, I agree that it using examples, images, and animations based off different and inconsistent assumptions would be potentially confusing to readers. Consistency is absolutely essential when it comes to making article content easy to read and follow, and I take absolutely no issue with your (and other editors' efforts) to resolve these inconsistencies. My data structures class assignments and labs were mostly focused on building each sort so that they work with linked lists and arrays of lists, not so-much queues and stacks (though the application of such would definitely be common in the wild) - this information is what I didn't see when I took a look at the article, so I really appreciate you for clarifying and for explaining the issue.
My concerns here were mostly over the edit warring and disruption that occurred on the article, and not who was correct, what content is incorrect or missing, or whether or not any of the content, media, animations, or images needed fixing or improving. The disruption is where I step in and with the "administrator hat" on, where the root of the issues concerned me, and was ultimately what needed to stop. The content-related issues and concerns, while being the cause and the reason behind the edit warring and disruption that occurred, are things where the details are mostly irrelevant in regards to the disruption and the need for it to stop. They're things that I direct the editors involved to go and work out among themselves, discuss on the article's talk page, and refer to Wikipedia's dispute resolution protocol in order to properly resolve. I obviously can't do that part for anybody... :-)
Anyways, I hope that my response here helped to clarify where my main concerns were in regards to this dispute and discussion and where I step in and take appropriate administrative actions. Anything outside of that is (for the most part) irrelevant and where it's up to the editors involved to discuss and resolve, not for me to step in and fix. ;-) Thanks again for the input and for clarifying the issue and what exactly is being seen as problematic. I appreciate it very much and I hope you have a great day. :-) Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:52, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Adam9007 - Ah... I figured that was the reason, but I wanted to ask in case you had other information as well. I've seen LTA and troll accounts created lately that depicted Loony Tunes characters and what-not, so I wouldn't be surprised if you were correct. What I can tell you is that this account has no deleted edits or anything that you can't see. This account (as of right now) hasn't made any edits or tripped any filters or logs. Let's keep an eye on this account's edits, logs, and filter logs; if you start to see any shenanigans begin, let me know and I'll take a look and take what actions are needed. ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:54, 19 March 2019 (UTC)

Learning the ropes!

Hi! I just wanted to thank you for your kind words on my talk page earlier, and thought I'd ask for some advice on how I can better combat vandalism. So far I've been using Twinkle and following the recent changes page, but I'd love to know if there's anything I can improve / any way I can get more involved. Vwilding (talk) 00:04, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Vwilding! You're very welcome! I'm happy that my message earlier brought you happiness and encouragement. Excellent question! The page on recent changes patrolling is a great start. Since you have Twinkle installed, the top half of the page won't be very useful since Huggle handles what it's detailing for you automatically. However, the bottom half of the page is extremely useful and provides a ton of great information and links that you'll find to your liking. You should also check out this page as well as this one; both are lists of all the different tools, applications, and scripts that you can enable and use to help make patrolling and removing vandalism much easier.
What tool or page do you use to monitor changes and find edits that may be vandalism? When I was new to patrolling for vandalism, I used Lupin's Anti-vandal Tool (now a very old tool that's mostly forgotten) to list the changes that were likely vandalism. Look through those pages and find a tool to do this and that you're comfortable with and feel is easy for you to use. Another good place to browse through is the counter-vandalism unit page, which will contain a great deal of good information as well. Once you get comfortable with patrolling and reverting vandalism, and you've been making consistent good reverts, warnings, and adding good reports to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism - you'll be able to request and be granted additional user rights, which allow you to patrol, monitor, edit, and handle disruption in even more places and areas.
For now, just give those pages a read, and let me know if you have any questions about them. I'm happy to help, I have the ability to edit your .js and .css pages (so if you need help with installing a script, let me know), and can assist with anything you need; just message me and ask. :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:33, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

RevDel, please

Found this [10] little nugget, could you possible rev-delete it? Mynamemeansnothing (talk) 00:10, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Mynamemeansnothing!   Done. Next time you need to report any edits that need rev del or suppression, email those to me instead; you don't want to post them on Wikipedia publicly. As an example: My user talk page (this page) is currently on 924 editors' watchlists, which allows them to immeditately know when someone has made an edit to it. If you know about the Streisand effect, users who see your edit pop up on their watchlist and notice that you're making a revision deletion request will quickly run to the edit diff you provided so they can view it before it becomes hidden to them. We want to avoid this as much as possible, which is why all rev del and oversight requests need to be emailed privately. ;-) No worries though; I handled it quickly, and it's not a big deal. Thanks for the message and for the request, and please don't hesitate to let me know if you run into any more edits that need to be redacted. I'll be happy to do so. :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:20, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Draft:Jae Won Choi/OLES2129/draft

Hi again,

I'm pretty sure this is in the wrong place, but not sure enough to boldly move it. I assume it's meant to be in the creator's userspace. Can drafts have subpages? Should I just leave it? Thanks. Adam9007 (talk) 03:27, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Adam9007! Generally, no... draft pages should not have sub-pages, since they're supposed to be put together in the same manner that live articles are (just in a different namespace and with "Draft:" at the beginning of the title). ;-) It looks like the user accidentally.... He must've..... umm.... yeah, he messed up somehow.... LOL. It's formatted and written almost as if it's an article, and it's in the draft space.... but the content is clearly worded as if this is supposed to be this editor's user page. It's like two creations got morphed into one and then somehow cast into the abyss, which we're seeing now.... Weird.... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:32, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
There are plenty of similar pages in userspace. There's a course by the University of Sydney going on, so there are a lot of new editors doing similar things. Adam9007 (talk) 03:34, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
(edit conflict) Adam9007 - Ah! Okay, I think this is a test/pre-draft page created by the user. On the editor's user page, he/she indicates being in a class titled "OLES2129" (which is path of that sub-page title), and I see other edits the user has made that appear to be test edits as well. Same thing probably goes with other users in the same class. I think we should just leave things where they are, and leave a message on the user's talk page and ask if they need help. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:37, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Well, I sent them the standard student's welcome if that's any good? All other 'OLES2129/draft' pages I've seen are in userspace. Adam9007 (talk) 03:39, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Adam9007 - Good enough for me! :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 03:39, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

IP Address

Hi again,

Is there any way of knowing whether [[REDACTED - Oshwah] this] was in fact Nche9147? If it was, should the IP address be hidden? Cheers. Adam9007 (talk) 03:50, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi again,Adam9007! Long time no chat! ;-) Given that the page was created and edited only by this user and for his class / assignment, I'd say that the IP user is almost certainly Nche9147 and I went ahead and suppressed the IP address. Next time you need to report any edits that may need rev del or suppression, email those to me instead; you don't want to post them on Wikipedia publicly. As a perfect example that applies here: My user talk page is currently on the watchlist of 924 editors, and if you know about the Streisand effect, users who see your edit here and notice that you're making a revision deletion request will quickly run to the edit diff you provided so they can view it before it becomes hidden to them. We want to avoid this as much as possible, which is why all rev del and oversight requests need to be emailed privately. ;-) No worries though; I handled it quickly, so we should be okay. Thanks for the message and for bringing the edit to my attention so that I could take care of it. ;-) Please don't hesitate to let me know if you run into any more edits that need to be redacted and I'll be happy to take a look. :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 05:58, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Greensborough college page recent protection mistake

Hello, I requested protection for a school page not long ago (not under this account but I had to make one to talk here) after an ongoing edit war with what is more than likely students of the school. Our Social media, Wikipedia page and even website have been constantly bombarded with trolls, fake negative reviews and in general things that will hurt the reputation of our college and it is getting hard to keep under control.

The problem we are most concerned about in regards to the Wikipedia page is the editing of the principals name. It’s been through several stages of trolling over the past few months but has largely increased very recently. Recently it has been being changed to the name of a principal (Pauline Barker) who worked at the school for a few weeks but was fired quickly after making seriously offensive comments directed towards children that I would prefer not to go into for obvious reasons. This became a popular ‘joke’ amongst the students of our school and we have received many negative reviews and edits to this page because of it. Just for clarification, the principal of the school at this point in time is Ryan Shields, although this is likely to change in the near future.

Annoyingly, it appears a troll managed to edit the page before it was locked, as the name Pauline Barker is currently still on the page. As I am no longer able to edit the page due to the lock, I was hoping you could assist in the change, as having that name stuck there for good will likely be quite harmful to the schools reputation, as the public opinion of this person is far from positive.

If it matters, we are currently working on identifying and punishing those who are purposefully ruining the schools reputation online.

Thank you for your cooperation, hopefully you understand the situation we are dealing with at the moment. Hopefully I commented in the right place to fix this. Thank you very much

-Chris Talton, Leading teacher, Greensborough College ChrisTalton2 (talk) 08:46, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Doppelgänger account

Hi Oshwah! Please create a doppelgänger account named S49S for me. Due to technical reason I couldn't create this account. Thanks. ~SS49~ {talk} 10:25, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi SS49! Sure, not a problem. The best way for me to do this for you and in the fastest way is to have you go to this page, and follow the instructions and fill out the form to request an account - just put in the comment field that Oshwah sent you here and that you're requesting this as a doppelgänger. Once you do this, respond to me here with the ACC Request ID# that's emailed to you. From there, I can just navigate straight to your request, create the account for you, and have it registered under your email and other information automatically. Then you'll have total control of the doppelgänger account and with much less risk of it somehow becoming compromised. Can you do this for me? Let me know if you get stuck anywhere and I'll be happy to help. :-) Thanks - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:04, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
[ACC #261095] I had requested this few days ago and it is still pending so I couldn't request again. Thanks. ~SS49~ {talk} 12:44, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
SS49 - Oh perfect! I'll handle this request now and get you set up. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:59, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
SS49 - You're all set! I've created the account for you and emailed you its temporary password, redirected its user and user talk pages to your main account, and blocked it as a registered doppelgänger for security purposes since it won't ever actually be used for anything at all. You just need to log into the account, change the password to something strong, and confirm the email address in Special:Preferences so that the account is linked to your email; I've taken care of everything else for you. Please let me know if I help you with anything else, and I'll be happy to do so. :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 16:09, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Thank you so much Oshwah. Much appreciated. ~SS49~ {talk} 16:28, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
SS49 - No problem; always happy to lend a hand ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 16:35, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Sorry to be rude but could I get a reply? Greensborough College page mistake

Very sorry to seem impatient and demanding but this is a problem that we need fixed as soon as possible and ive noticed you’ve been online but not responding to my two messages.

If I am getting something wrong and you aren’t able to respond to them I am super sorry but please understand that I am really I need of a resolution to this problem and at the moment it would appear my messages have not come through or are being ignored.

This is in relation to the Greensborough college editing ‘wars’ which have been occurring. I am hoping to get proof into you as early as tomorrow but as soon as a solution can be reached the better, as this is a time in which our reputation needs to be perfect.

Please note that in your original reply, you stated that I was repeatedly changing the Wikipedia to something it was not supposed to be (Pauline Barker to Ryan Shields). But actually, the correct name, Ryan Shields has been in place for months, before the recent trolling began. I was only reverting the edits of the trolls, not changing what was supposed to be there.

Hopefully you understand and we can get this changed as soon as possible. If you have the time, please read through my three messages to get a full idea of the situation.

Once again, terribly sorry to be rude but this is extremely important to our school.

-Chris ChrisTalton2 (talk) 10:29, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

Dear Chris Talton, even though I used to assume good faith when interacting with new Wikipedia users, I still have more confidence in what Victoria State Education Department says than you as semi-anonymous individual – and you can see what they say here:
https://www.education.vic.gov.au/findaservice/SchoolDetails.aspx?ID=DD676791-2F92-DE11-B28C-002185CD8E14
So please kindly ask the State Govt to update their records, then Wikipedia can fix its article based on official data.

There's also the schools webpage at [11]. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:04, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Ok, now I saw this [12]. ChrisTalton2, I'm afraid we're stuck atm. The school webpage and the government webpage are "published" per WP:RELIABLE SOURCES, and that is something we feel strongly about (when we notice we should, anyway). A new newsletter on this page would be ok too, I think. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:34, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
@ChrisTalton2 and Gråbergs Gråa Sång: Here's yet another source: the recent Greensborough Focus, Issue 3, 08 March 2019 with a Principal's Report in it, signed by ...Ms Pauline Barker, Principal. --CiaPan (talk) 11:53, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Yeah, that's why I asked for a new one. But who knows, though the internet seems to know nothing atm, perhaps there will be newspaper articles in a while. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 11:59, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
I've checked randomly some older issues of Greensborough Focus, and I found Ms Barker has been signing the Principal's column since Issue 1, 10 Feb 2017 — so it is a pure misinformation that she “worked at the school for a few weeks but was fired quickly”... --CiaPan (talk) 12:04, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Truthful hyperbole? There's a lot of that around. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 12:16, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

...and he's gone to a sock-puppet trash bin before I managed to reply. :( --CiaPan (talk) 13:26, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
(Oshwah, thank you for bearing with me. And I promise to not extend this thread any more, IMHO we gathered enough evidence for a judgement or action, if any appears necessary. CiaPan (talk))
CiaPan - HA! I don't care if you extend it. ;-) If the discussion is necessary... or even if it's just providing you and others with humor, fun, or needed time away from stressful and tough issues or discussions - I don't have any problem with it at all... (so long as it's positive in nature and not being disrespectful or uncivil to others, of course) :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:38, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Hi ChrisTalton2, and thanks for leaving me a message here with your concerns. I understand that this is an urgent matter to you, and I apologize for the delay responding to your messages here. Unfortunately, there are times where I cannot respond to messages on my user talk page right away - usually because I have urgent matters and high priority tasks on my plate that need my full and immediate attention, or because I'm currently assisting another editor with their requests for help. In these cases, I simply ask for your patience and understanding; I'm more than happy to assist you once I've finished with the tasks currently in front of me. :-) As CiaPan and Gråbergs Gråa Sång have both pointed out above and with numerous references and sources, there appears to be no verifiable reliable sources or evidence to show that Ryan Shields is the current president of the school; every source that's been found and listed here, in the article, and on its talk page - all state in one way or another that Pauline Barker is the current president. If this information is incorrect, you should contact the school, point the sources and information out to them, and request them to update it (as also explained above by CiaPan and Gråbergs Gråa Sång). Until reliable sources show that the president of the school has in-fact changed, the information in the article will remain as-is. On an encyclopedia, hands-down and 100% of the time: it's always better to have information that's out-of-date but well-sourced, verifiable, and accurate at the time of its writing, than to have any information or content in an article that's unverified, poorly-referenced, inaccurate, or false. This is why you're seeing the responses by other editors in the manner that you are. Please let me know if you have any more questions or concerns, and I'll be happy to answer them and help you. Thanks for the message, I hope that you understand, and I wish you a great day and happy editing. :-) Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 12:35, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
CiaPan, Gråbergs Gråa Sång - Whelp, that sucks.... lol. This user has just been checkuser blocked as a sock puppet. All that time and effort put into researching and responding to this editor... Oh well! Heh, I guess that's why there were no sources to support the user's claims... probably because they weren't true at all. ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 13:17, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Yes, I knew that. I have noticed the 'Ryan Shields' surname misspelled along with other obvious fun-vandalism in a single edit by some IP-editor. Didn't bother to point that out, though, as I was more interested in verifying Pauline Barker is in the position than that Ryan Shields is not. --CiaPan (talk) 13:26, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
A good example of WP:s immunesystem working as it should, then. We have valiantly and righteously defended Pauline Barker's position as principal, and can be content with that. Now, should we consider deleting that article? Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 15:12, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
Gråbergs Gråa Sång - Indeed! This situation is a great example as to why we ask for reliable sources when users add content to articles that isn't referenced. This is also why it's very important to always maintain complete civility and respond respectfully to all inquiries, messages, and push-back and with the assumption of good faith, but we also don't back down from our original concerns regarding their edits and why they were not in compliance with important policies or guidelines. It's up to us to enforce and re-iterate the importance and the need for all users and editors to follow Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and we did very well in doing so above. We directed the user to have the school update their websites and content if they were inaccurate, and we kept to the bottom line: that we follow what's stated in reliable references, and that unreferenced changes and original research isn't allowed. Overall, we did a great job here, and I appreciate the help. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 23:08, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
Fwiw, there seems to be a Ryan Shields at the school: (obsolete link) Update: [13]. Gråbergs Gråa Sång (talk) 06:36, 2 April 2019 (UTC), link updated by CiaPan (talk) 10:00, 6 June 2023 (UTC)
Gråbergs Gråa Sång - I think that the information in the article is accurate and true as it is right now, given the number of references that support this. If it turns out not to be, someone will surely update it and with proper references and sources cited. I'm not too worried about it. ;-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 06:39, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
@Gråbergs Gråa Sång: I knew that!   The whole action looked to me like a group of friends trying to honour their colleague. But that was quite off-topic, the only important part was who actually is the principal of the school, and whether a change in the article is sourced. --CiaPan (talk) 14:12, 2 April 2019 (UTC)

Regarding my last edit for Qazi Tauqeer

Hi Oshwah, You Have a nice name between i am a huge fan of osho.. i wanted to make some changes to his article but i could feel some typo problem but while correction some error occurred and could not edit it properly ...due to some improper logarithm and change of him being a singer was changed because in a show he was not a singer but of course an aspiring and learner ...

Thanks for being on the other side to correct the error

Hi Pkte! Thanks for leaving me a message here regarding an edit you made to Wikipedia. No problem; you're new here and this is how you learn... we don't go after editors who make good faith mistakes if their intention was to be bold and improve the encyclopedia. When making edits and changes, we ask that references are provided to support this information if it isn't common knowledge. We also don't accept original research, which is content based off your own experience, relationships, interactions, research, or other self-made or self-published references (basically, "citing yourself"). Just locate reliable sources and cite them in-line with your changes and you'll be good to go. If you have any questions, please let me know and I'll be happy to answer them and help you. Thanks again for the message and I hope you have a great day. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:05, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Richard Saucedo bio

I was just looking up Richard saucedo (composer)’s bio. According to the article, he died last weekend. Except he is, at this very moment, conducting in Pittsburgh. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2600:1016:B023:2F93:4457:E9FC:625A:F6DC (talk) 18:10, 20 March 2019 (UTC)

(talk page watcher) Looks like vandalism added here on March 15, the day before he supposedly died. Anyway the article has lots of issues, and may not meet BLP for an article. - BilCat (talk) 18:36, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
The same IP also added that he died on February 3, 2019! The IPs only edits have been to this page, but other IPs have vandalized in the same timeframe. It might be a good idea to semi-protect it for a while. Im also considering an AFD, as the only source is a bio page on his employer's website. - BilCat (talk) 18:46, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
I've now sent it to AFD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Richard Saucedo (2nd nomination). - BilCat (talk) 21:57, 20 March 2019 (UTC)
BilCat - Thanks for looking into this and for filing an AFD. :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:09, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

I appreciate it very much and it means a lot to me. :-) Kindness and civility is a big part of what I try to set an example for other editors by my actions, and I'm happy to see that I'm doing just that. :-D Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:14, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Help: File a SPI

Hi, I am unable to file a SPI because the page has been locked. Can you file this case for me? I suspect Alibaloshi12 (talk · contribs) to be sockpuppet of Abhishek9779 (talk · contribs) Wikipedia:Sockpuppet_investigations/Abhishek977. I am providing diffs to support my claim.

This is not Mountain157 (talk · contribs) and you can verify this by checking their frivolous SPI filings and incompetence in the matter. If you do feel that this passes the smell test, can you also check for other sleepers of the same account. 27.106.106.26 (talk) 22:53, 22 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi there! Sure, I can file this SPI on your behalf - Stand by... ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:20, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
I took a look at the SPI archives for Abhishek9779, and Alibaloshi12 was investigated only a few days ago, so there's no need for me to file this SPI. If you have any questions or further concerns, please let me know and I'll be happy to help you further. Thanks for the diligence and I hope you have a great rest of your day. 2 things

1. I need help with why this is spam: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User_talk:CaradhrasAiguo&oldid=870163302#Invitation_to_a_topic_on_a_talk_page_relating_to_an_edit_you_reverted_(no_offence) 2. You may wish to protect Anna Frodesiak's talk page for some time to prevent edits that require revdel. Thank you.111.220.164.171 (talk) 02:59, 23 March 2019 (UTC)

I made a thread at the Teahouse relating to this. Thank you.111.220.164.171 (talk) 11:15, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
Hi there, and thanks for leaving me a message here with your questions and concerns. To answer your first question: I would bring your concerns to CaradhrasAiguo directly and ask why he believed that your message was spam, and ask why he removed it without taking it seriously or answering it at all. It read to me like you were simply messaging him and asking for an opinion (which doesn't seem harmful to me...), but he might've seen things differently. The best way to get an answer to your question and have your concerns resolved is to message him on his user talk page and politely express your concerns directly and ask. I obviously can't answer that question for him; all I can say is that I didn't see your message as spam, but again... there are always two sides and two views to every story, and he's the one who can answer your questions. I obviously can't. :-)
Thanks for pointing me to Anna Frodesiak's user talk page. You are correct in that the messages left were not acceptable, and I've suppressed them from being viewable by anybody. If you see messages like this in the future that attempt to "out", or disclose someone's private information like that, please email them to me privately instead. We don't want such requests to be made publicly anywhere on Wikipedia, since it will draw attention to the edits or messages by other people that wouldn't have done so otherwise. For example: My user talk page is actively watched by 928 different editors, which means that they receive a notification on their watchlist each time this page is updated or edited. If you know the Streisand effect, you'll know that drawing attention to edits like these is something we want to avoid at all costs: People will see this message, realize that you're making a revision deletion or suppression request and that information is about to become restricted and hidden from being viewable to them... so naturally, they'll rush to the page, find the edits, and read the information before it becomes hidden. So next time, just email me these requests instead. :-)
Thanks, and please let me know if you have any more questions or need my help with anything else, and I'll be more than happy to answer them and lend you a hand. ;-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:44, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
Update: It looks like you created a discussion on the Wikipedia Teahouse as you indicated here, and others have responded with their individual input (permalink). Even if CaradhrasAiguo doesn't respond to it directly, I think it might be worth it to just drop the matter entirely (given the number of input and responses to your question that have provided more context and agreed that your message was disruptive) and move on. Their answers seem to provide sufficient context and additional details to the issue and story that weren't provided here, which is why I held off on giving too much input other than to suggest that you talk to the user directly. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 17:53, 1 April 2019 (UTC)
1. I can't email you. 2. Please see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_Chess_Championship_2018 (edits from November 2018 regarding framework if you know what I mean), 211.27.126.189's talk page (formerly me but IP's change), WP:ANEW Archives 379 (discussions 11 and 44) and 380 (discussion 37). CaradhrasAiguo knows I'm problematic with edit warring. He can't have done such things just so someone gets blocked.111.220.164.171 (talk) 12:13, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
Yeah... I didn't think about that when I responded to you above... lol. ;-) Have you considered creating an account? Among with being able to email other users, using a Wikipedia account comes with many benefits that you'll find very useful (such as having your edits attributed to you regardless of your IP address, being able to be granted user rights and privileges, and the ability to edit protected pages after your account becomes confirmed, many more...). I originally just helped you to determine whether or not a message you left was "spam", as well as responded to your report of abuse on Anna Frodesiak's user talk page. What exactly is going on with World Chess Championship 2018? Where does this connect with everything else? Sorry, just a little confused... :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 14:05, 2 April 2019 (UTC)
I don't want an account, no thanks. If you saw an article about a chess match where each game was described in detail, would you understand someone adding headers for games that haven't started? That's what I'm talking about for World Chess Championship 2018. That's where he started noticing me being problematic on edit warring because I thought that those headers should stay because they didn't look bad on the page and I thought such a thing happened for other related articles. 194.193.152.27 (talk) 07:19, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
I'm the same person as the 111 IP but at a different location now for reasons unrelated to Wikipedia.194.193.152.27 (talk) 07:24, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
I'm curious.... why wouldn't you want to create and use an account? Doing so adds a lot of convenience. Are there specific reasons? I'd be interested to hear them... :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 07:27, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
I don't think I'd be allowed at this stage by the people whom I know.194.193.152.27 (talk) 07:29, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
You don't think that you would be allowed to create an account here? You mean by editors here? Or people that you know in real life outside of Wikipedia? ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 08:17, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
Outside of Wikipedia.194.193.152.27 (talk) 08:31, 3 April 2019 (UTC)
I see... I'm sorry to hear that. I won't poke any further into those details; your life outside Wikipedia is absolutely none of my business and I completely respect your personal life and your privacy. I'll take another look at the article and see what I can find... :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 10:09, 3 April 2019 (UTC)

Unspecified source/license for File

Hi Oswah

Been a while since last chatted...

I have a query regarding how to resolve the "Unspecified source/license for File: Ashley Artus Wiki Profile pic.jpg"

What do I need to do next in order to get the pic up on the page ?

Being a newbie, not sure what I need to do next !

Can you assist/help with this Oswah ?

Many thanks,

AndycBtn (talk) 15:25, 23 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi AndycBtn, and thanks for leaving me a message here with your questions! I apologize for the delay responding to your message; I've been busy with real life obligations, and I'm just now getting myself all caught up with all the Wikipedia messages, emails, and requests for help that were left while I was busy. :-)
To answer your question: All images or files uploaded to Wikipedia, the Wikimedia Commons, or any other Wikimedia site must have their license information provided along with the file on its relevant file page. Is it an image that's in the public domain and therefore free to be used without any restriction? Is the image copyrighted or is its use restricted in any way? If so, what copyright license is the file under? Is fair use justified with this image? If so, why? What fair use guidelines are met that allow this image to be used and shown in articles on Wikipedia? Having the image's license information added to its file page in order to disclose its restrictions, origin, and use ability is what will answer all of the questions above.
For more information on copyrights and how to add license information to your uploaded image, please see Wikipedia's policy and guideline pages on image use policy (copyright section), copyrights (in general), and Wikipedia's policy and guidelines on non-free content. These pages will not only answer your questions, but will also help you understand copyrights in general, the importance with knowing and declaring them with images, files, and media, and which images we accept and do not accept due to their copyright status. If you have any questions after reading through all of these pages I listed for you here, please feel free to let me know and I'll be happy to answer them and help you further.
Thanks again for leaving your message here with your questions, as well as for being diligent and taking care to follow the notices and warnings that are given to you and follow-up with them (as opposed to just ignoring them and doing what you want without care... lol) - keep up the excellent work, and I wish you happy editing! :-) Best - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:28, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

An editor has asked for a discussion to address the redirect Dunkin'/Archive 1. Since you had some involvement with the Dunkin'/Archive 1 redirect, you might want to participate in the redirect discussion if you wish to do so. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 22:17, 23 March 2019 (UTC)

If you see any more disruption on this (or similar) articles in the future, please don't hesitate to file a report at AIV so that it can be quickly handled, or let me know and I can take a look. :-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:34, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Range block request

Hey Oshwah, can you take a look at 2600:1008:b100::/41 again? They are continuing their problematic behavior and block evasion. Nihlus 04:38, 25 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Nihlus! Thanks for leaving me a message here regarding this IP range and their continued shenanigans yet again... lol. I apologize for the delay responding to your message; I've been busy with real life obligations, and I'm just now getting myself all caught up with all the Wikipedia messages, emails, and requests that I received. :-)
I just blocked this IP range again for one month. Just looking at their edits made today shows mostly disruptive changes and uncivil responses to their user talk page. Given my last block, the IP range's huuuuge block log rapsheet, and their recent edits - this was a no-brainer. Thanks again for the heads up; if you see any more shenanigans from this same person (maybe from a different range), let me know and I'll be happy to look into it. ;-) Cheers - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:39, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Hi again, Yashkkaryan! Thanks for following up here with your questions and concerns. Next time you wish to re-open or refer to a discussion that's been archived here, you just need to add a link to point there (an example is the link I put in the text above describing what was collapsed); there's no need for you to spend all that time copying and pasting the discussion. ;-) Adding a simple link is much easier for myself, as well as for you... lol. I apologize for the delay responding to your message; I've been busy with real life obligations, and I'm just now getting myself all caught up with all the Wikipedia messages, emails, and requests for help that were left while I was busy. :-)
It looks like the content you tried to add to the Kalpana Mohan article since we last talked was reverted by Bbb23, and I'm not exactly sure as to why he reverted it. Have you left a message on Bbb23's user talk page and talked to him directly about your edits? I would go there and ask him about it directly, as he'll obviously be able to answer your questions regarding the reverting of your changes better than I can; I can't speak for Bbb23 directly. If you have any more questions or need my assistance, please don't hesitate to let me know and I'll be more than happy to help you further. However, for your questions here, I must divert you over to Bbb23 so that you two can discuss the matter directly. :-) Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 18:51, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

Query on how to add the correct "tags" for the uploaded file - Ashley Artus Wiki Profile pic.jpg for the Wiki page - Ashley Artus

Hi Oshwah

Just messaging again as not heard back from you ?

Unless you're on holiday or something ?

Being a newbie & understanding how everything works in Wiki...some things I am having a problem with understanding what steps to take next...

So...the pic was uploaded & as far as I can tell it has been accepted (I think? not sure)

So I understand that I have to put the correct "Copyright tags" in for the pic...

This is where I am stuck !!

Its saying that I need to put the tag in on the "File Description page" but I'm not sure what/where that is ? Is it the Ashley Artus Wiki Profile pic.jpg page?

It also says "Please copy the URL of this image or article in the email to assist OTRS volunteers to find it. If an email cannot be found in the OTRS system, the content may be deleted for lack of valid licensing information."

I did send a message the other day (about a week ago)...but have not received any reply ?

Apologies if you have been busy, but I could really do with getting this last part of the page sorted as then it will be finished !

Look forward to hearing from you,

Andy

Hi Chennai Port AND Dock Educational Trust Hr Sec School! As stated above by Gareth Griffith-Jones, the reason that your account was blocked is described on your user talk page along with some instructions you'll want to follow in order to resolve the issues and have your account unblocked. Creating new accounts in order to get around your original block, while I feel that you did so because you were confused and needed help, is a serious violation of Wikipedia policy (as outlined here); doing this will only make things significantly more harder for you in terms of getting your account unblocked. Just follow the instructions using your original account, and you'll be able to resolve the matters and be unblocked easily. Good luck! :-) - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:01, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

David Cone Edit Battle

Oshwah, just a heads up that someone has reversed your reversal of an edit to the "Retirement" section of David Cone's page. This is actually the latest in a series of edits and reversals for this section, and always the same changes - removing all references to Cone's eldest son Brian, and revisions concerning Cone's fiancé, Taja Abitbol. I noticed this change/reversal in January, and the process keeps repeating itself every few weeks. Different IP addresses each time. Not sure if this is trolling, or personal/family issues for David Cone. I sent a message to one of the IP addresses, noting that this change could be hurtful to the involved parties if not verified. No response. Fm451 (talk) 05:16, 29 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi Fm451, and thanks for leaving me a message here with your concerns regarding the David Cone article and some edits that have recently been made. Looking at the edit history, I see that some IP users removed some content from it back on the 27th and 28th of February and due to being unreferenced and likely untrue. These removals seem completely legitimate to me given that they lacked any kind of references or citations. Not only are removals of this kind okay to be made, we encourage it. Editors can remove any unreferenced content (especially if the content is potentially negative, contentious, or controversial in nature) that exists on articles that are biographies of living people (or "BLPs" for short). We must scrutinize the content on BLP articles much more carefully than we do with other articles, and any content that isn't referenced by reliable sources that are secondary and independent of the subject are to be removed on sight if they are potentially negative, contentious, or damaging in any way. The onus is on the editors who are adding such content to provide the necessary references and that meet the requirements for being considered reliable.
Thanks for reaching out to the users directly and asking them about the edits that concern you. If their responses don't satisfy your concerns or answer your questions, or if edits continue to be made to the article that you feel aren't necessary, please let me know and I'll be happy to take another look. Thanks again for the message and for your diligence with this article. I hope you have a great rest of your day and I wish you happy editing. :-D Best regards - ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 20:13, 1 April 2019 (UTC)

@Oshwah: This is one account I'd ask you to block immediately for spam and nonsense. WP:TEND WP:COMPETENCE WP:NOTHERE. — Smuckola(talk) 18:56, 31 March 2019 (UTC)
Smuckola - I think we need to hold off on running toward administrative action at this time and spend more time trying to help and educate the user first. While they certainly have made some edits that others would see as disruptive and annoying, I believe that they're good faith attempts to be bold and try to help. I also see some edits that I believe are legitimate and even good ideas, such as their creation of 286 protected mode - a redirect page that you tagged for speedy deletion and an admin declined by inappropriately using rollback (I've since brought this up to the admin and talked to him about it). If, after reasonable attempts have been made to reach out to this user, talk to him/her, and ask them to review policy and offer to educate and help them - they continue to make disruptive edits and it's blatantly apparent that they're ignoring our attempts to reach out to them, we can consider action then... but as of right now, I believe that it's too soon. We've only left them automated warnings and threats, and told them to "stop it, you're new here and you should've been blocked earlier" - none of which are messages that are helpful. Keep an eye on this user, try and help them, and let me know if things escalate from there and another look into the matter is warranted and I'll be happy to do so. user:RonBot

Hi, could you check if this bot working normally? It seems that it's adding broken image tag to articles that don't need it. Thanks.--SharabSalam (talk) 12:36, 31 March 2019 (UTC)

Hi SharabSalam, and thanks for leaving me a message here with your concerns regarding RonBot. I think that the issue you reported here has since been resolved, but please verify this for me and let me know if I'm incorrect. If you still see issues that were caused by RonBot and occurred after 16:01, 31 March 2019 (UTC) (when bot was unblocked yesterday after issues were reported and fixed), let me know and I'll be happy to look into it further, or file a report at the administrators' noticeboard by starting a new discussion.
