Warriors-5 (stylized as WARRIORS-5) is a alliance in the professional wrestling promotion Dragon Gate and it's sister promotion Dragon Gate USA. It currently consists of the leader of the group, Cima (stylized as CIMA)[1], Gamma[1], Susumu Yokosuka[1] and Kagetora(stylized as KAGETORA)[1]. Unlike the majority of alliances who portray themselves as either heroes or villains, Warriors-5 portrays themselves asthe opposite of what their oppoonets are portraying[1],

The group formed in March 2009 and has since been largely successful, with Cima being the Dragon Gate Open the Brave Gate Champion,[3] Cima, Gamma and Kagetora holding the Dragon Gate Open the Triangle Gate Championship, [4] and Gamma and Susumu Yokosuka holding the Dragon Gate Open the Twin Gate Championship.[5]

History edit

Background edit

On January 25, 2009. Gamma, who was then the leader of the villianous alliance Real Hazard squared off in a match against Yasushi Kanda where the loser would have to leave Real Hazard.[6] Although Gamma won the match, Kanda and the rest of Real Hazard turned on Gamma and attacked him, therefore kicking him out of the group and therefore making Yamato the new leader of Real Hazard[6]. On Feburary 15, 2009. a storyline began in which Gamma's contract ran out and therefore he made amends with the fans therefore turning him into a hero.[6] Meanwhile, Susumu Yokosuka and Ryo Saito had recently reunited as a tag team until Saito turned on Susumu and joined Real Hazard.[7]Susumu was then saved by Gamma which led to him and Susumu challenging Real Hazard's Yamato and Cyber Kong for the Open the Twin Gate Championship, but with the stipulation that Gamma would have to leave Dragon Gate if he and Susumu lost.[6]

Formation edit

Meanwhile, Cima who had previously been injured with a neck injury wrestled a dark match for World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) on the Feburary 9 SmackDown Tapings.[8] On March 1, 2009 Gamma and Susumu would win the Open the Twin Gate Championship after Kagetora turned on Real Hazard and helped Gamma and Susumu to win the titles[5]. After the match, The 3 men would call out Cima, with the four becoming a alliance calling themselves Warriors-5.[6] The group would then add Youhei Fujita, being renamed to Ryoma because this was a name of a man who helped Cima during his injury[6] until Ryoma was suspensed indefintely(later set to 1 year) due to posting pictures of a monkey being abused on his website.[9].After winning the Twin Gate, Warriors-5 would add two more titles in the upcoming weeks with Cima winning the Open the Brave Gate Championship from then, champion Masato Yoshino[3] and Cima, Gamma and Kagetora winning the Open the Triangle Gate Championship from then champions Kamikaze (Taku Iwasa, Shingo Takagi & Dragon Kid) on April 15, 2009[4]. On May 2009, the group would then add The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson) as "assistants" where they defended the PWG World Tag Team Championship against Shingo Takagi and Akira Tozawa on May 2, 2009. [10] The group would then lose the Twin Gate titles to the team of Real Hazard (Ryo Saito and Genki Horiguchi) on May 5, 2009. Next, they would lose the Triangle Gate titles to the team of World-1 (Masato Yoshino, BxB Hulk & Pac) on June 7, 2009 and the Brave Gate title to Naruki Doi on July 19, 2009 where Doi's Open the Dream Gate title was also on the line.[3][11] Kagetora would then participate in a 6-man tournament for the vacant title defeating Akira Tozawa and Super Shisa in the first round [12] but he would be defeated by Naoki Tanisaki in the deciding match[3]. On September 2 2009, Cima and Kagetora were punished in a statement made by Dragon Gate in response to the Monkey Abuse Case[13]

Dragon Gate Overseas edit

Cima and Susumu Yokosuka would make their debut at Dragon Gate USA's Inaguaral Pay-per-view Enter the Dragon/Open the Historic Gate losing to former allies The Young Bucks (Matt and Nick Jackson)[14]. Cima will now face Brian Kendrick[15] who was recently released from World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE).[16]. Cima, Susumu Yokosuka and Kagetora will be appearing as Warriors-5 in Dragon Gate's first show in the United Kingdom.[17]
