NION is the clown name of Ian A. Wallace, actor, artist, and creative partner of Richard Pochinko. Ian and Richard worked together as actor/director team to create the RICHARD POCHINKO MASK/CLOWN technique starting in 1971. Together they conceived and produced a number of theatrical works including: Íroquois Creation Legend and So Runs The World Awayfor the Theatre Hour Co. touring and offering mask workshops throughout Ontario from 1971 to 1973, Lord Byron's CAIN at Theatre Resource Centre, Ottawa 1976, Nion/Kabaret de la Vita one-man show,1979 to 1986 in Montreal, Theatre Quatre Sous, Toronto, at the Rivoli and T.W.P., New York at Westbeth Theatre for the first N.Y. Clown Festival, and in Vancouver, at the Arts Club Theatre, and Amiga Theatre, Expo 86; PYTHAGORAS, a mystery, with Nion, Neil Lees & Maggie Huculak, at Passe Muraille theatre in Toronto; Dario Fo's Elizabeth, Almost by Chance a Woman, with Francine Volker, Linda Stephen, and Nion, at Factory Theatre, Toronto; THE BEAVERS, in collaboration with Native Earth Theatre, at Passe Muraille, and Bathurst St. Theatre, Toronto.
