When is a Wikipedia project a WikiProject?

The term "WikiProject" is used for projects created for the purpose of managing a specific family of information within Wikipedia. For example, Wikipedia:WikiProject Economics organises articles related to Economics, including economic terms, theories, and economists.

A WikiProject is a resource to help coordinate and organize article writing. Its attached talk page is a convenient forum for those interested in a particular project. WikiProjects can also have associated Portals.

Some projects, like the Tip of the day project, coordinate internal Wikipedia processes rather than article content directly (though not all of these use the term "WikiProject").

Me edit

I am a resident of Montana, United States of America. I have a small family that is growing. I am an over-achiever and never stop working.

I am new to Wikipedia (membership), but have known, utilized and admired this project for years.

I am a key programmer/leader of HelpDesk creation/application at my place of business.

I am a creator and love to see progress on ANY project. I enjoy making tools, documentation, services, and pages that offer functionality, readability, logic, and ease of use.

Educational and Professional Background edit

I hold an Associates of Applied Sciences in Computer Systems Technology.

I am always (and will always) say that I am going back for a Bachelors/Masters. I will. I am not kidding, I will go back for an advanced degree.

I run a MediaWiki for my place of business, using it for mostly internal HelpDesk support of those in our company on the front line of customer interactions, though at this time it is branching out into new areas of the company. It is currently small, only about 200 articles, but in 6 months has received about 52,381 page views, with about 3.74 average edits per page and 6.33 veiws per edit. My business wiki is internal only, please do not ask to see it.

The Wiki we have running is only about 1/3 of the support material that we have been able to gather and create in about 1 year's time.
