Agent Carol Was the code name given to one of Special Branches top agents (Martin McGartland) in the late 1980's and early 1990's. He is responsibly for saving over 50 lives of not only members of the British Army but also members of the Royal Ulster Constabulary and Ulster Defence Regiment. Agent carol worked in west Belfast, after two years working as an agent, he was assigned to infiltrate the provisional Irish Republican Army (PIRA). In 1991 his cover was Blown and he was abducted from Sinn Fein headquarters in Belfast, he subsequently leaped from a window 40ft above the ground to make his escape.[1]
