Mohamad Kazem Fayad (Arabic: محمد كاظم فياض; born 1994), known as Kazim Fayad, is a Lebanese film director, writer, and producer. He is known for his psychological thriller films.

Early life edit

Fayad was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1994;[1] his family is originally from Khiam in southern Lebanon.[2]

Fayad graduated from the Lebanese International University with the highest mark for his film Turritopsis Dohrnii.[3] The film was nominated for the Golden Fox – Best Student Film award at the Calcutta International Cult Film Festival,[4] and finished in second place.[3]

Career edit

Fayad directed Yusif,[5] a 2021 feature narrative film.[6] His brother, Ali, was the editor.[7] The film was nominated in the Asian World Film Festival's official selection,[7] and non-competitive selection for feature films.[8][9] It won the Special Jury Award at the Asian World Film Festival,[10][11] and was the best first cinematic work at the Alexandria Mediterranean Film Festival.[12][13] Yusif was also nominated for Best Director and Best Screenplay at the Dhaka International Film Festival,[14] and was among the 10 best films out of 500 at the International Oriental Film Festival of Geneva.[15] Fayad was congratulated by the Lebanese Minister of Culture.[16][17]
