Haidar Salem Khriess (Arabic: حيدر سالم خريس; born 1 January 1996) is a Lebanese footballer who plays as a winger for Lebanese Premier League club Safa.

Club career edit

Coming through the youth system, Khriess began his career at Nejmeh.[3] He made his Lebanese Premier League debut on 16 June 2013, coming on as an 83rd-minute substitute against Safa.[4] Khriess was sent on loan to Akhaa Ahli Aley ahead of the 2017–18 season,[5] scoring one goal in 18 league games.[6] On 21 January 2019, he joined Bourj in the Lebanese Second Division mid-2018–19 season,[7] helping them win the league and gain promotion to the Premier League.[8]

On 25 September 2020, Khriess joined Safa on a three-year contract as part of a swap deal involving Moustafa Kanso.[3] Khriess scored three goals in 11 games in the 2020–21 season.[6] In the last game of the 2021–22 season, in a relegation battle against Sagesse, Khriess caused problems following the opposing team's goal; he was suspended for one year and fined LL5 million by the Lebanese Football Association.[9]

International career edit

Having already represented Lebanon internationally at under-23 level,[1] Khriess was first called-up to the senior team on 23 June 2021, for a 2021 FIFA Arab Cup qualification game against Djibouti.[10]

Personal life edit

On 1 October 2020, Khriess was involved in a car accident, which sidelined him for a month.[11]
