User:NE2/FL control cities

Definite control cities (bottom line on distance signs) are bolded.

US 1 edit

I've probably missed a number of signs in south Florida, especially the Keys. I couldn't find any between Florida City and Jupiter, and they don't become regular until Wabasso.

I couldn't find any eastbound distance signs east of DeLand. Obviously Daytona Beach would be the control city.

US 98 edit

It looks like distances are measured via Sopchoppy, which is a bit shorter than via Panacea.

I don't know if there are any cities signed on the SR 7 portion. Since the US 98 listing covers that part, this begins at Okeechobee. I can't find any distance signs between St. Cloud and Orlando.

SR A1A edit

I found no signs south of SR 732 and very few south of SR 40, though I didn't exactly search comprehensively.

Here I'm going by signs on intersecting roads. On two-digit Interstates, official AASHTO control cities are bolded.

I-4
I-10
I-75

(I didn't bother checking all interchanges between Punta Gorda and Sarasota)

Ocala acts like a control city northbound. The Lake City area is strange with Gainesville and Alachua popping up randomly.

  • to SR 826 (SB exit 2)
  • Miami (SB exits 4-111)
  • Fort Lauderdale (NB exit 4 instead of Naples; SB exit 23 in addition to Miami; SB exit 80 instead of Miami)
  • Naples (NB exits 1-80; SB exits 111-270)
  • Tampa (NB exits 101-250; SB exits 275-399, 435)
  • St. Petersburg (usually as an extra sign: NB exits 205, 224; SB exits 275-301, 350)
  • Ocala (NB exits 254-329)
  • Gainesville (SB exit 423)
  • Alachua (SB exits 404-414, 427)
  • Lake City (NB exits 314, 350-404; SB exits 439-467)
  • Jasper (NB exit 439 instead of Valdosta)
  • Jennings (NB exit 451 instead of Valdosta on one approach)
  • Valdosta (NB exits 423-467)
I-95

Miami Beach also appears southbound on some signs in the Miami area.

I-110
I-275
I-295
Florida's Turnpike

There are no cities signed between exits 0 and 13.

SR 408
SR 414
SR 417
SR 429
SR 528
SR 570
SR 589
SR 618
SR 869

Many signs have been recently replaced, changing the northbound control city to Orlando. This information is from before those changes.
