The Peder Engelstad Pioneer Village is a folk museum in Thief River Falls, Minnesota in Pennington County. The museum and village provide a living history of the town.[1]

History edit

The Pennington County Historical Society was formed in the 1930s, and the group established the museum in 1976.[2] The museum was named after a local Norwegian immigrant, Peder Engelstad (notably the grandfather of Ralph Engelstad).[3]

Museum edit

The museum consists of 19 buildings, including seven late 19th century log houses, a Swedish Lutheran Church constructed in 1916, two railroad building depots and two cabooses. There is also a schoolhouse dating back to 1908 and five original stores including a Blacksmiths, general store and beauty and barber shops. Throughout the buildings, over 25,000 items are on display.[4][5]
