Mugithi Cultural Music new article content ... Mugithi is a one man guitor type of music, in Kenya. It derives it's name from the dancing style, where peole hold each other making a long queue which resembles a locomotive, therefore the name "Mugithi", meaning a train in Kikuyu language.
Mugithi is a modern form of traditional music, all those cultural songs have been tuned with modern musical instruments to sound interesting to the youthful generations.
Mugithi Nights are popular in Kenya, on weekends. The Kikuyu, sporting their “Godpapa” hats, Kenyatta leather jackets, shirts unbuttoned down hairy chests, danced to mugithi tunes in their cowboy boots while drinking muratina from the ruhia. These occasional villages in the city have worked wonders (for popular restaurants) and urban fun seekers — the breed that sometimes also haunts tribal pubs.
