Philip Douglas Taylor (born 13 August 1960) is an English professional darts player recognised one of the most successful individual sporting champions of all time.[1] Nicknamed "The Power", he has won a record 15 world championships (2 BDO and 13 PDC) and more than 150 professional tournaments overall, over twice as many as anyone else.[2]

Taylor has been ranked the world number one in the PDC Order of Merit since June 2008 and has had eight different spells at number one, a record 56 months overall. In May 2010, during the Premier League final, he became the first person to hit two perfect nine dart finishes in a single televised match.[3]

As of 26 September 2010, he is ranked World No. 1 in the PDC Order of Merit.

Taylor was once nominated for the BBC Sports Personality of the Year award in 2006, but failed to win the award. He has won PDC Player of the year three times (2006, 2008 and 2009). As of 26 Septemner 2010, he has hit nine televised nine dart finishes, and became the first person ever to hit two nine darters in one match in the 2010 Premier League Darts final against James Wade.

Taylor currently plays for the Professional Darts Corporation (PDC) and has played for them since 1993. Before he joined the PDC, he played for the British Darts Organisation (BDO) from 1988 to 1993. He has won 13 World Championships with the PDC and two World Championships with the BDO.
