The Yabbadabbadoofus
The Yabbadabbadoofus gets his name from Fred Flintstone's pet phrase of "Yabba-dabba-doo!". With the Yabba, the prime thing to remember is that like Fred's world, everything in the Doofus's world is made of stone - including his brain and his opinion. Under no conditions will reasoning with the Yabba result in anything other than you wanting to bang your skull on a stone wall. Non sequiter is the Doofus's stock in trade. An example talk page dialog might go like this:
- WikiEditor: "I think that the link to the NY Times article is a good source for a Chocolate Chip Cookie recipie."
- Yabbadabbadoofus: "All the time you were accusing me of bias, the weather in California stayed the same."
The YabbaDoofus may be the rarest of all sockpuppets, in that the Doofus may not actually be a secondary account name. In fact, the Doofus may just be that - a doofus. However, because it's comforting to think that no one could be this block-headed unless they are goofing, a wiki tradition has developed, holding that the Yabbadabbadoofus is an actual sockpuppet. One shudders to think that this could be wrong - that the Doofus is an actual user - not a sock.
My Own Sockpuppet
Just for kicks, I created my own sockpuppet -- his name is User:MortonsSockpuppet. Do not be confused -- he is me and me is he -- he's a sockpuppet. I think it's useful to have your own sockpuppet, not to masquerade as something else, but to point out actual sockpuppetry and poke fun at others. For comic relief -- MortonsSockpuppet will sometimes agree with me, and sometimes not, depending on the desired comic effect. As Wikipedia is the land of point of view advocates and gatekeepers, and therefore not really a serious enterprise, I needed a tool to help point this out.
