Molly Harper (born in Paducah, Kentucky in August, 1978) is an romance author who writes for Pocket Books. She is best known for her Jane Jameson vampire series and her Naked Werewolf series. ...

Early Life and Career edit

Harper describes herself as the lone writer in a family of sensible teachers, nurses and construction foremen. She wrote her first story at age eight, when she took her mother's manual typewriter and pecked out a story about her class taking a trip around the world and losing a student in each city.

Harper studied print journalism at Western Kentucky University, graduating in 2000. She took a job as an education reporter at her hometown newspaper, The Paducah Sun. The newspaper staff was small, so Harper covered a variety of subjects besides education, including crime, courts, Paducah's American Quilters Society Show and Contest, and "the arrest of a Florida man who faked his death by shark attack and ended up tossing pies in a local pizzeria." Harper also wrote a monthly humor column, usually poking fun at her family.

Harper married her high school sweetheart, David, a local police officer. Their chaotic work schedules and growing family led to Harper leaving the newspaper to work as a secretary at a local Baptist church. Stressed by the condition of the family's dilapidated apartment, she began writing a vampire story at night, while her young daughter slept. Her manuscript became her first book, Nice Girls Don't Have Fangs, the story of Kentucky librarian Jane Jameson, who is fired from her job, mistaken for a deer, shot, and turned by a passing vampire. The first three Jane Jameson titles were published by Simon and Schuster in 2009. A fourth title, Nice Girls Don't Bite Their Neighbors, will be released in March 2012.

Pocket Books will release at least two spin-offs of the Jane Jameson series, set in Half-Moon Hollow, Kentucky. The titles and release dates have not been confirmed.
