A simplier point of view edit

Hello,

I would say that your position is rather far from simple but is good. Up to now I can agree with almost all of it, and I am writing almost as I was looking to what you wrote finding what I like and avoiding to search for something I do not like  .

You are absolutely correct that in school we are taught a distorted version of the history. That's why I started with a warning what I have been taught. When we are kids we cannot choose for ourselves. Only when we reach adulthood we can choose whether we are happy with school knowledge or we will try to verify the information on our own. Even by matching what schoolbooks are giving out on both sides of the border can help a lot, what to talk about the Wikipedia idea. I fellow from Bulgarian Wiki was slightly annoyed with the contents of Romanian learning books but obviously they serve Romanian nationalist purpose, not Bulgarian :-)

I can also mention my understanding that people need something to glue them as a group. It might be a religion, nationalist idea, ideology, common enemy or any mixture, but they need something to unite. Unfortunately when it is too much things get worse - we've read about crusades (religion), fascism (nationalist), Cold War (ideology), etc. Snake venom in small quantities is a medicine, and is poisonous in large quantities.

Saying all that was only to thank you for your thoughtfull remarks, which gives me enough hope everything can be resolved. Next time I go to Athens, I'll be glad to meet such a person (if you reside there).
