Fort Munro The small Murre of Southern Punjab

Fort Munro also known as Nimroo the only hill station in southern Punjab in the Sulaiman Mountain range.It is located at height of 6,470 feet above sea level in Dera Ghazi Khan district.It is 195 km from Rajan pur and 85 km on the Quetta Road from Dera Ghazi Khan. History

The town was founded by Robert Groves Sandeman in the later part of the 19th century and named Fort Munro after Colonel Munro who was commissioner of the Derajat Division. Tourism It attracts a number of tourists every year, particularly those who wish to escape from hot plains of southern Punjab to enjoy mild and pleasant weather. Fort Munro can be reached either from Loralai (Balochistan) or from Multan (Punjab). From Balochistan , the mountain range starts near Rakhni, which is a border-post between Balochistan and Punjab.From Punjab dry mountain range starts from Sakhi Sarwar(the place of Muslim Sufi saint Syed Ahmad Sultan, also known as Sakhi Sarwar,Lalan Wali sarkar or lakh Data ) Tourists Attractions in Fort Munro: Sandeman Lodge: The top of the hill is actually a wide platform where the colonial era residence of political assistant, Sandeman Lodge.Besides Sandeman lodge there are other building including the Commissioner House and DCO House. Dames Lake: One of the beautiful place to visit is Dames Lake. This is small lake surrounded by orchards with boating facilities. With a TDCP hotel and restaurant at the banks of the lake, it is the best place for having a dinner and especially the traditional Balochi Sajji.
