Stars

Is it really neccessary to have a seperate article for Pi Cancri, Omicron2 Cancri, Rho2 Cancri, Sigma1 Cancri, Sigma2 Cancri, Sigma3 Cancri, or the 8 others you have created so far, when each of them only contain one line of text? Wouldn't it be better to have something like Stars in the Constellation Cancer or something like that? Esperanza Spam

Hello Esperanzians! A few announcements.

The Advisory Committee election results are in. In tranch A are Acetic Acid and Flcelloguy. In tranch B are Ryan Norton and Bratsche.

My other annoouncement is that our founder, JCarriker, has founded Esperanza's sister project, Wikipediology. I have written two essays here (my name is Matt Binder). My essays are under Teenage Wikipedians and Anon Editors.

Flamsteed-designation stars in Cancer

Is it really worthwhile to create substubs for fairly obscure stars? Right now, we have articles for many reasonably bright naked-eye stars (Bayer-designation (Greek letter) stars), but for many routine Flamsteed-designation (numbered) stars, they're usually pretty unremarkable unless a planet was discovered around them (eg, 51 Pegasi). -- Curps 03:00, 16 October 2005 (UTC)

Your title's color

Well, I played around with the numbers and colors, but I really would like to see some information on how to program a certain signature's colors on my Preferences. I looked at Wikipedia, but there isn't an article exclusive to that. Maybe you can direct me to an article that shows me how to program a preferred font color in my signature.

There are a lot of ways I could have my signature, but I would like to try it as Screwball23 where the "Screw" is in teal, turqoise, or light blue or maybe from dark blue to light blue/blue-green across the letters, then the ball is written in Red (b), Orange (a), Yellow (ll), and the numbers in green (2) then violet (3). I know, my directions are not too easy to see. Please, feel free to send me the code or advise on how to get the coloring done. I really appreciate any help you can give me.

Excellent! You got the colors perfect! I have the code, but now I am unable to copy and paste the material onto my Preferences. When I go to Preferences, I see no Signature area. I see a Nickname, but no Signature. I really don't mean to bother you, but I am not sure how to put it in preferences and it won't take effect until then.

Neuro-linguistic Programming

Could you please add this page to your watch list, and check in from time to time? We really need an another outside opinion on this. Can you please also comment on my behaviour in the Talk pages/editing because I want to be doing the right thing, but I am having trouble keep the discussion on topic, and have been shouted at for making changes and demanding citations for what I consider false or overly critical claims. John Kerry's 1st wound

I object to your removal of the wiki link to the word wound which I had only recently added to the John Kerry article. Furthermore, I feel it's unfair of you to act unilaterally the way you did. I do not agree with your justification [1] as to why you removed the wiki link from John Kerry. You have left out of your calculation the very real edititorial disagreements at that page over how much attention to draw to the minor nature of Mr. Kerry's 1st wound. My view is that readers DO benefit from a wiki link which informs them about wounds, especially since many critics of Mr. Kerry have many times very publicly criticized him for "puffing" in regards to his wounds. If it's not a big deal to you, I ask you to please restore that wiki link. I think it's important and I think it makes the article better, not worse. Also, if you notice, in the Kerry article, the word shrapnel which immediately precedes the instance of the word wound from which you removed the wiki link, links to a page which talks in very broad terms about shrapnel. By including the 1st link, but not the 2nd, the editorial result is to confuse rather than clarify, expecially since the shrapnel page closes the section on World War 1 with "Shrapnel can cause light or heavy wounds (or damage)". I see no reason why John Kerry should link to shrapnel which then links to Physical trauma (though the link is named "wounds"), if John Kerry is not going to link to wound. I'm sorry

It's not that I'm trying to blame any particular person, least of all you, for trying to commercialize Wikipedia. I simply think that going so far as to put a link on the sidebar is too active a thing to do for a friend of Wikipedia. I will openly admit that I've probably been way too harsh. I think I'll remove myself from the "Participants" section of the No Ads WikiProject.

The link in the sidebar should be there anyway, and that's entirely unrelated. The link is to our existing "Tools" page, not to their software. Any link to their software will be approved of in the usual way by the community on the Tools page, or it will not appear at all. I was very very careful to structure this deal in such a way as to include the community.

If the community really wants to link to all kinds of proprietary software on that page, and then boycott the one bit of proprietary software which offers to donate money to the community, I'll be very surprised. But if that happens, then that happens.--Jimbo Wales 05:50, 24 October 2005 (UTC)

Could you remove or at least shoren this thing:

The editor of the Sunday Independent apologises to readers and the family of Irish politician Liam Lawlor for wrongly claiming Lawlor was with a teenage prostitute when he was killed in a Moscow car crash on Saturday. However Britain's The Observer controversially refuses to apologise for publishing the now disproven claim.

Forever Yesterday

Please stop reverting the Forever Yesterday page. Wikipedia maintains a policy on musical artists, one of the key points of this being that the artist much be representative of a particular music scene. The "Pittsburgh rock scene" is represented well enough by other groups, and if you feel like marginalizing and saying they represent the "North Central Pittsburgh Metropolitan Area rock scene", well, then we can debate the merit of keeping the article (even though you won't win). Signature templates

I was leavign a meassage for User:Screwball23 on another matter, adn i saw you had advised him on how to construct a signature using a template. You may not be aware that signature tempaltes are frowned upon (indeed the preferences page specifically requests that they not be used) because 1) they can be vandalism targets, and 2) they place extra load on the servers every time a page so signed is rendered. Please advise people in future that if they want to use a signature template, use it with the subst keyword, which avoids both of these problems. Thansk. DES ^(talk) 22:57, 26 October 2005 (UTC)

phobias

It is useless to redirect them to -phobia article, since they are no more but dicdefs, i.e., a fair game for the wiktionary. But I am open to counter-arguments. Dear Merovingian,

The List of country names in various languages, List of European regions with alternative names, List of European cities with alternative names, List of European rivers with alternative names, and others, have come under attack by a certain Mikka, who, having just stumbled into all these lists, having found them of little use to himself, and having repeatedly ridiculed them and their users, has then promptly filed a petition to delete the lists in question.

Please cast your vote to keep these valuable, informative, and indeed fascinating lists at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of country names in various languages.
