'''Perfume Genius''' (artistic name of Mike Hadreas, born 1984 in the [[U.S.A.]]) is an American [[singer-songwriter]] and [[musician]] living in [[Seattle]].
The artistic career of Mike Hadreas began when he moved from [[New York]] to his mother's home in [[Everett, WA]].
Here Hadreas began composing songs on the piano. In 2008 he started a MySpace page where he broadasted his music and homemade videos from found YouTube footage to accompany his music.
His work was noticed by [[Los Campesinos!]], who supported Perfume Genius and introduced him to their label, Turnstile, which in 2009 released the single Mr. Peterson, song about a suicidal, pedophile high-school teacher.
Perfume Genius' full-length debut album, Learning, which presented its tracks in the order in which they were recorded, was released in 2010.
Perfume Genius' performances are accompanied by [[Sufjan Stevens]] and Alan Wyffels.
