Born Melvin Charles Riley Jr. but performs under the name Melvin Riley as lead singer of Multi-Platinum Band Ready for the World. Singer, musician, producer and songwriter Melvin wrote hits like ("Oh Sheila," "Love You Down," "Tonight," "Ceramic Girl," "Slide Over," "Deep Inside Your Love," "My Girly," "Can He Do It Like This" and a host of Billboard top charting hits for the band) Melvin later went on to launch his solo career signing to Universal/MCA producing and writing the Top 10 hit “Whose is It” which created album success and a production career which lead to the opportunity in writing and producing the Top Ten R&B hit for 4 By Four ("Come Over," that landed at number ten on the R&B chart in 1987).
