User:Mellohi!/What "use English" means

In Wikipedia requested move discussions, editors may wish for an article to be renamed from a title that is not in English to an English translation of the title, citing our "use English" titling policy. Quite often, however, these requests are ultimately rejected or at least run into significant opposition. This is due to the requesters' misunderstanding of this policy.

"Use English" does not automatically mean "translate the name" edit

A common pitfall for citers of WP:UE is to insist on translating article names into English even though English-languages sources do not translate it.

"Use English" and common names edit

What "use English" generally does mean is to prioritize English-language sources when determining the most common name of a subject for the English Wikipedia's purposes.
