Artist born in Tarsus, Mersin, Turkey in 1928, attended California Academy of Fine Arts; worked as a journalist, then as a painter and calligrapher. Worked for the Zafer, Öncü, Akşam, Milliyet, Güneş, Hürriyet, and Sabah newspapers. His art has been featured on book covers, posters, currency, and stamps; retired from the news business in 1982 to focus on art. Notable for illustrating history of Turkey and the Ottomans.
