Things I Don't Believe in edit
I don't share the widespread view that the quantity of the edits one made says a lot about him or her as a Wikipedian. It is certainly the quality that should play a leading role on a world class website that millions of people use for reference every day.
Things I Believe in edit
I admire this quote, and the system behind it:
„In a summary reversal, the Supreme Court unanimously reverses a lower court decision without hearing argument or even having a full merits briefing—because the decision is so clearly wrong. It is a sure sign of an activist court misapplying the law.“ Hans von Spakovsky
The decisions of an activist misapplying the rules should be reversed quickly and unbureaucratically. Otherwise, the feelings stays deep that the top staff and the bottom volunteers of Wikipedia have virtually no say, and the "middle management" is in full control. Which is probably in 70% of the cases OK, but there are 10% of the remaining 30% when really bad decisions are made. And 10% bad decisions is too much on a world class website.
Suggestion for Wikimania 2014 edit
I made one suggestion for Wikimania 2014 on the relevant website, and here is another issue that might be interesting to look at:
In March 2014, I noticed that afters weeks, not just days, of very week protests against the Bulgarian government there was an enormous amount of edits of the article describing the protests. It was larger than the quantity of edits in the months of really strong protests. I wish I could believe that such activity is based on good faith, as the rules of Wikipedia command, but just in case it isn't, the obvious aim would be to make an article unreadable.
I'm sure there is a way to improve this, but it seems the subject must be brought to the attention of Wikimania 2014 by one of the "smart guys", and not just a regular user, so that any attention is turned to the matter.
