Ing. Jana Malinska, MSc. MBA

Jana Malinska (born 3.3.1977 in Prague) is a Program Manager, business development specialist, international economist and economic advisor with the World Bank Group.

Jana Malinska is a Women Entrepreneurship and Finance Initiative (We-Fi) Program Manager with the World Bank. The WB We-Fi aims to address the financial and non-financial constraints faced by WSMEs and to test new approaches with the private and public sectors through strengthening entrepreneurial ecosystems, expanding financial services, and improving market access. [1]

Jana Malinska has been working on business development, international investment and entrepreneurship for over 15 years. She joined the World Bank Group in 2003, moved to the World Bank Middle East and North Africa region to promote innovation following the Arab Spring in 2010 and worked with the global Innovation and Entrepreneurship team in 2015-7. She has led projects and initiatives on SME linkages, competitiveness and investment policy and advised government and business leaders on economic reforms across 4 regions and over 40 countries. Most recently, she initiated and led the Climate Business Innovation Network promoting start-up ecosystems in developing markets and linking them to global players.[2] She also led Subnational Doing Business in India and Pakistan and other major studies and contributed to research with WEF, UN and EU. Her teams received WBG Vice-President and Innovation Nations Awards.

Earlier in her career, Jana was a member of the OECD Secretary General’s Advisory Unit and contributed to the development of the “Government at a Glance” indicators for the OECD (Young Professional Program 2004-6), she developed international mobility marketing strategy with PSA Peugeot Citroen, and she implemented the successful Czech Supplier Development Program and national cluster policy with CzechInvest, national investment promotion and business development agency attached to the Ministry of Industry and Trade. 

Jana has a background in economic geography and business management. She holds an MSc. in Local Economic Development from the London School of Economics, MBA from Universite Jean Moulin, and an Engineering Degree from University of Economics in Prague.
