Mar Basil Group of Institutions was started with a great vision of the Managing committee of Mar Thoma Cheria Pally, Kothamangalam for the benefit of common people to uplift their education and healthcare. 

Its journey in the field of higher education was started in 1936 by establishing Mar Basil School in Kothamangalam. This Government aided higher secondary school secured first position in Kerala state for sports, during the last three consecutive years. The Mar Baselios Group of Institutions is presently managing Mar Baselios Medical Mission Hospital (Estd in 1978) – A 400 bedded multi-speciality hospital along with Mar Baselios School of Nursing (Estd in 1980), Mar Baselios Dental college (Estd in 2002) – one of the top Dental colleges with BDS and MDS programs, Mar Baselios College of Nursing (Estd in 2003) with BSc and MSc and St. Mary’s Public School (Estd in 2001 – a higher secondary school recognised by CBSE).

Mar Baselios Institute of Technology and Science (Estd in 2009) is the latest edition in line with the vision of the Management, having B Tech and M Tech courses.

AN IDEAL PLACE TO STUDY: Mar Baselios Institute of Technology and Science (MBITS), Kothamangalam, Cochin, Kerala was started in the year 2009 upholding the motto, “Wisdom Crowns Knowledge” and aims to provide quality higher education at par with international standards. The institute offers various B.Tech and M.Tech courses with 468 annual intake, highly affordable fee structure and scholarships provided by Mar Thoma Cheriapally, Kothamangalam and Government of India. The global standards set at MBITS in the field of teaching, research and constantly encourages students for a relentless pursuit of excellence through highly experienced teachers. It is worth mentioning that the Electrical department of MBITS secured highest pass percentage (93.3%) among all the engineering colleges affiliated to APJ Abdul Kalam Technological University (Formerly Kerala Technological University) in the recent second semester university examination of 2016-20 batch and all the departments are consistently maintaining very good results. MBITS got overall tenth position in KTU among self-financing colleges B.Tech S1 results of 2016-20 batches.

KEEP IT 100 %: edit

Secured 100 % results for many theory papers like 6 mathematics classes and more than 30 other theory engineering papers. Also obtained seven university ranks for PG students of Mechanical and Civil Engineering during the last two years and above 200 placements offers received for the latest outgoing batch of 2017. The institute was one among the two venues in Kerala for Smart India Hackathon 2017, which was an initiative of Government of India and got appreciation from various Central Ministries and departments. During the program Padma Bhushan Dr. Vijay P. Bhatkar, Chancellor, Nalanda University congratulated MBITS and made a remarkable comment, “exemplary management”

RESEARCH AND CONSULTANCY CENTRE: edit

Under the guidance of faculty having industrial, research and academic experience over 25 years, many firms are getting benefits in the state including “Grama Panchayaths” and Schools through the consultancy service centre of MBITS in various engineering sectors.

NSS Unit: edit

The institute not only moulds a student into a professional graduate but also nurture him as a socially responsible human being, with values and extends their hands to the deserving. The “Punarjeni” projects implemented by student volunteers of NSS unit in association with the state government have done various social works around Kothamangalam and well appreciated by various agencies and media. Equipment worth Rs 86 Lakhs belonging to Government Hospitals in Ernakulam district were recreated through the “Punarjani” project and received prestigious awards from state Finance Minister Dr Thomas Issac and KTU Pro-Vice Chancellor Dr. M Abdul Rahman during different occasions in 2017.

ONLINE EXAMINATION CENTRE: edit

MBITS has been an online examination centre since 2012 for various prestigious national level exams like JEE, GATE, JIPMER, AIIMS, IIT exams, IBPS, State Bank exams etc. Experts from IITs and other reputed organizations have commented about the excellent arrangements and facilities.MERIT-CUM-MEANS AND CENTRAL SECTOR SCHOLARSHIPS: 113 students from MBITS received the prestigious scholarships from Government of India during the last academic year and is progressing with review of eligible candidates for the current academic year.

SCHOLARSHIP FROM MAR THOMA CHERIA PALLY, KOTHAMAMGALAM: edit

Provided Scholarships for 123 eligible students based on KEAM rank or their plus two results alone. ARTS AND SPORTS: Students are actively involved in arts and sports. A team of faculties is engaged for leading the events.
