Hilary W. Hoynes (b. August 31, 1961)[1] is an American economist, noted for her studies of economic inequality and government policy. She is holds the Haas Distinguished Chair in Economic Disparities at the University of California, Berkeley.
Hoynes earned a bachelor's degree from Colby College in 1983, and in 1992 earned a Ph.D. from Stanford University. She has been on the faculty at University of California, Davis and University of California, Berkeley.
Hoynes' research has focused on economic inequality and the effects of government policy.[2]
