Physician and writer, David Hilfiker MD, has spent much of his life providing health care to homeless and formerly homeless people in Washington, D.C.

A Yale educated doctor, Dr. Hilfiker, started his career at a practice in Grand Marais, Minnesota. At that time he wrote a book called Not All of us are Saints, which discusses what happens when medical professionals make mistakes.
After moving from Minnesota, David Hilfiker, helped to found Christ House, which is a 34 bed shelter for people recovering from medical procedures. He then left Christ House to found Joseph's House in 1990, a home for formerly homeless men with AIDS.
