Kokyo David Young, is a poet and article writer living in Northern Nova Scotia, a lay disciple with the Atlantic Soto Zen Center, Halifax. Born in Pictou, Nova Scotia, on December 9th 1948, he attended school in Pictou and Dalhousie University, in Halifax. His father, a medical Doctor, practicing in Pictou, was run over and killed by his own car on October 19th 1969 in a freak accident. David himself suffered from bipolar disorder for over 30 years, until his recovery, attributed to Buddhist meditation and psychotropic medications circa 2002. Although he honed his craft for most of his adult life, he was most productive as a poet in recent years.

He currently lives, with his wife, in Pictou; and with his family near by.

He will bring out a collaboration of his poetry coupled with the paintings of the artist Lum Weng Kong in the coming year and a half. It will be in English with a Chinese translation; with a release in Canada; Malaysia; China; and Japan.
