Tribal wars edit

Tribal Wars is a free, web browser based game from the German company InnoGames Ltd. The German game, Die Stämme (the Tribes), is a Medieval-themed conquest game where the player manages resources while building a town and army. Tribal Wars is the international title for the game with approximately 3.4 million accounts total. The game is offered in over 20 languages and supports multiple independent virtual worlds. The English language game has over 480,000 accounts and over 30 worlds.

Each player starts with a Medieval village which must be rapidly expanded by acquiring resources: iron, wood and clay. The player builds forces to protect their own village and resources while plundering neighboring villages. The forces, such as swordsmen, archers, and cavalry, must be built sequentially with the production speed depending on the advancement of village buildings. Battles are not shown graphically, but instead issued as reports showing outcomes. Team play is encouraged and the players can form groups, called tribes, to share troops and resources. In time, a player may capture and control several villages by defeating neighbors.

Maintaining a many villages can be a significant time investment, so it is not uncommon for large accounts to become cared for by several players. If an account is inactive for 14 days, the village is converted to a "barbarian" state that can be conquered easier.

The game is continually being updated. New rules have been added periodically, as well as new units and buildings. The graphics are also updated from time to time, with the new changes only affecting new worlds as they are added.

Game worlds edit

There are multiple independent game worlds for each language version. Game worlds run as long as there is sufficient active players. World 1 (German) ended September 2007 after four years. Among non-German versions, the largest number of international accounts belong to the Polish, English and Portuguese versions.

In addition to the main worlds, there are "speed rounds" that can run up to 600 times faster than the standard game. These temporary games only last a few days.

Graphics edit

The game comes with very simple graphics. A two-dimensional map locates the players village among neighbors. The village schematic has a few animations and shows the buildings constructed. Resources, construction orders and battle results are displayed on database tables. Newer worlds, added in December 2008, have improved graphics and some advanced animation.

Premium account holders have the option of modifying graphics.

Premium accounts edit

Although Tribal Wars is free, a premium account can be purchased. The premium account provides the player an improved interface, larger minimap and longer building queues, but no actual in-game advantage.

Deletion Review edit

  1. Tribal Wars has over 3.4 million users. Not trivial or WP:CSD
  2. Tribal Wars is verifiable and has been mentioned in Wired as well as online sources:galaxy news 30,xweb,browser game digest, mmohub, sling, gamer chicks
  3. Is this a WP:BIAS issue?! Tribal Wars has WP articles in 17 other languages; German, Español, Eesti, Suomi, Français, Magyar, Italiano, Latviešu, Nederlands, Norsk (bokmål)‬, Polski, Português, Русский, Srpskohrvatski, Slovenčina, Svenska, Türkçe.
  4. In the month the Tribal Wars article was online for 5 days, it averaged 160 hits a day!. In a completely random sample, only the M 15 rifle averaged higher, by about 100 hits. Psion (comics), Bernard Jenkin, Fredericksburg, M15 rifle, Meg Campbell. Why deny an article users obviously are looking for?
