A special feature of this small mammal is its ability to 'add value' to coffee beans! It seeks out the reddest, ripest beans, eats them, digests them and excretes them. In Sulowesi and in Bali certain coffee growers collect the excreted beans, wash them and sell them at an enormously inflated price.The resulting coffee has a 'rich, heavy, earthy flavour with hints of caramel or chocolate'. Not for me, thank you!
