The Caledonian Mercury is an online Scottish newspaper estalished in January 2010. The name 'Caledonian Mercury' is a revivial of an historic title used twice previously by Scottish newspapers; the Mercurius Caledonius, founded in 1660 and considered to be Scotland's first newspaper, and another, launched in Edinburgh in 1720 also shared this title. The Caledonian Mercury considers itself to lie in the same tradition of journalistic innovation as these two previous titles. [1]
