Angry Sorority Chicks Strike Back! edit

Really, you dont know who we are buy you will in a year or two and have no business being rude, your not even from Texas, how do you know if I am not notable in TEXAS? Get something better to do! -Jennifer —Preceding unsigned comment added by 63.161.169.67 (talkcontribs) 18:53, 7 July 2005

Thanks edit

Thanks for your comment! I've been working on making/expanding all the Final Fantasy IV characters and it's really been taking me back. It's a great game and I plan to replay it soon. --Warpedmirror 7 July 2005 19:32 (UTC)

Your comment regarding Ed Comix Inc. edit

I understand this is a free country where freedom of speech is valued. However, it would be better if you showed a positive attitude in your comments. I happen to know the Ed Comix Inc. kids, and know how excited they are about what they are doing. I commend their creativity when so many kids their age are involved in detrimental activites. These are the types of kids that need encouragement, and I am surprised that a Yale student with a major in philosophy, would be so closed-minded and insensitive to recognize the authenticity of these kids' work. 8 July 2005 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Th' Duck (talkcontribs) 17:15, 8 July 2005 note: this comment by the author of the article in question

I concur that these kids should have all the support, care, and nurture that their parents and any interested schooling system can provide. However, a Wikipedia entry is not the proper arena for positive reinforcement; rather, it is an encyclopaedic article about a subject worthy of encyclopaedic mention. If these kids belong in Wikipedia, so does my rap group, my kung fu club, and the "comic book company" that I, too, had when I was 12. jglc | t | c 8 July 2005 17:21 (UTC)

Comment re:book pages edit

Hi, thanks for your comment re: synopsis pages, but as I'm new I can't quite figure out how to delete the pages :s I've had a look in the help section but it's just confused me even more. Any recommendations? - Mark (User:chitman13)

Thanks for the advice, I'll get onto it now :) - Mark (User:chitman13)
Hey, Mark; also, when you write a comment on a person's talk page or a discussion page, it's helpful if you sign your comment. Do so by adding four tildes (~~~~) behind your comment. Don't do this on article pages, though :) Have fun! jglc | t | c 15:53, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
Thanks for the tips, I'm sure that I'll eventually get everything right! chitman13 15:49, 11 July 2005 (UTC)
No problem. It took a while for me to get used to all the conventions of wikipedia, too. Good luck! jglc | t | c 15:53, 11 July 2005 (UTC)

Wu-affiliate article edit

I'd be happy to start this article if it's OK with you (you seem to have a long "to-do list" already...). --Jamieli 17:02, 13 July 2005 (UTC)

Using cleanup templates (and alike) edit

Chu - edits like this are pointless - it takes more effort to add that template than it does to clean up an article that short. Don't overuse those templates - they're an eyesore. →Raul654 03:31, July 15, 2005 (UTC)

Jin Kazama edit

You don't call having the Devil inside you a tragic flaw? —Preceding unsigned comment added by King Zeal (talkcontribs) 18:09, 15 July 2005

No; a tragic flaw is "a series of actions the... tragic hero... takes" that ultimately cause his downfall. While Jin's Devil Gene may ultimately serve the same purpose as a tragic flaw (to humble the protagonist), he is not an archetypal tragic hero as, say, MacBeth or Achilles would be. In addition, there are hints by Namco that Jin will ultimately throw off the curse of the Devil Gene, meaning that, unlike the traditional Tragic Hero, he will ultimately triumph. jglc | t | c 18:12, 15 July 2005 (UTC)
I see your point. So then, we should remove the "tragic" comments altogether. What kind of archetype does he fit, then? King Zeal
Good question. I don't know what archetype I conjure up when I think of "man struggling against his own nature"... Perhaps we could just include a comment about him being "an archetypal fighter, struggling against the restraints and bounds of his lineage," or something of the sort? jglc | t | c 18:23, 15 July 2005 (UTC)

Protestants in Afganistan edit

I am at a loss why you labeled the two-sentence article, Protestants_in_Afghanistan as not being neutral. You need say why you think so and leave your comments on the talk page. You didn't.--FourthAve 03:09, 17 July 2005 (UTC)

Sorry. You're entirely correct; I have left a comment on the article talk page now. I'd be pleased to help transform this entry from a two-sentence article into an in-depth exploration of the role of Protestant Christianity in Afghanistan. jglc | t | c 05:27, 17 July 2005 (UTC)

DnD stuff edit

Hello

I'm doing it. For efficiency reason I work in an "assembly line" way, just copying and pasting. After, I will put some content. I will from now on add the inuse template.

Should I merge Shaar and eastern Shaar?

I did not created the Eastern Shaar yet, so this not about technical thing just about whether or not they should be considered as one or as two.

Combined sewer overflow edit

You indicated this is a copyright violation. Aren't items from .gov sites in the public domain? John Barleycorn 20:09, July 21, 2005 (UTC)

Gah. I'm not sure. I've seen indications that all .gov sites are, and I've heard also that only some are. In any case, the second copyvio is from a .org site (admittedly, one that may be public domain). I am not sure; I'm actually working on something else right now, but just noticed these two and put the copyvios up for potentially dangerous material. imho, it's better for me to be wrong, some other vigilant user to note this and restore the article, than for it to go unnoticed and for wp to potentially infringe on a copyright. jglc | t | c 20:11, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
Am I missing something? I don't see that you added this to Wikipedia:Copyright problems. John Barleycorn 20:24, July 21, 2005 (UTC)

Dirty joke edit

Hi, My reason for placing the page on VFD is not due to the vandalism, or due to the 'controversial' content that has been posted within the article. I just feel that the article has little potential to be more than a dictionary definition. Regardless, as it is merely up for a vote, others will take a look at the article to reach a consensus. Thanks for your comments! Gblaz 14:27, July 22, 2005 (UTC)

  • Hi again! I think your proposal for merging and redirecting the articles is an excellent solution that takes all of the comments into account. Its been great working with you on this one. Gblaz 20:42, July 22, 2005 (UTC)

Laurence Tribe edit

I changed the Lawrence Tribe article into a redirect here; this article contains all the information + more, and is the correct spelling of the name. Since you did an expansion of Lawrence Tribe, I thought I'd tell you. --Scimitar parley 19:08, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

  • I was wondering the same thing- I went to expand it, and found my edit conflicting with yours! Anyways, I didn't want you wondering who had removed your additions. --Scimitar parley 19:13, 26 July 2005 (UTC)

Thanks for your work on Dungeon Keeper edit

User:Artistopia edit

This user, though warned by you to stop adding spam for internal "Artistopia" sites to various music artists' entries, has continued to do so. The user's contributions show no other edits other than adding Artistopia links. I'm going to try to give the user one more talk page suggestion that he or she stop doing so, and instead contribute in a more substantial manner... and, given that the user doesn't do so, can you block them? jglc | t | c 16:12, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

Thank you for leaving a follow-up message with Artistopia and reverting his other edits. This user has been reported to the WP:AIV notice board, so if he continues to spam he will be blocked. Hall Monitor 16:27, 29 July 2005 (UTC)

User:84.30.80.16 edit

Hi!

In the last days I worked on the pages related to “music”, “guitar” and mostly on the « classical» part of the “guitarist” page. On this page I have added subtitles (Baroque (XVII & XVIII century), XIX century, XX century…), I have completed the lists of articles that should be created (there was only one name for the baroque time…), and I have started some articles. I can only “start” articles and not write it because I am not fluent in English. That’s why I mostly only make the categories and add a “Guitarist-stub” at the end. I removed the name of Ananiah McCarrell from the classical guitarists list because I think it was not relevant. I also worked on the part “music school”. While I was doing this I received 3 warning saying that I was doing “vanity” and “vandalism”. (Two from Lucky 6.9 and one from Jasonglchu). At least two times the “start” of the articles has been speedily deleted for minimal content. Three articles were concerned. I am new on wikipedia, I have to learn how it works but I am not doing “vanity” either “vandalism”. I just try to improve the pages, principally those related to music and particularly classical guitar because I know it well. If you want to cancel the work I have done or banish my IP you can do it but I think that my posts are relevant. Please have a look on my contributions page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/84.30.80.16 and say me if I can continue or not. I hope that the “start” of the article you would like to cancel will have enough votes.

All the best,

User:84.30.80.16

I do not have yet created an account but it is not for this reason that I am doing vandalism and vanity. I will hopefully create an account soon, if my IP is not banished.

I have just seen that you study in Yale. Did you know that there is a renowned classical guitar teacher there? His name is Benjamin Verdery, I will add him in the list.

  • I see. I have no problem with what you're doing, but would suggest that you add at least minimal content to all the articles that you're creating, otherwise other users (as User: Lucky 6.9 and I have done) may think that you are simply vandalising wikipedia, or adding nonsense entries. Good luck, and if you have any further questions, feel free to ask me on my talk page! jglc | t | c 16:35, 3 August 2005 (UTC)
  • Thank you for your answer! You can understand that I was not so happy to receive all those warnings… Even if my English style is very far from an encyclopedic style I will do my best to add more content to the articles I am creating. I will also create an account; I will give you the name later.

84.30.80.16

  • No problem :) I look forward to helping you out in any way that I can. We all have to start somewhere. jglc | t | c 17:18, 3 August 2005 (UTC)

Retcon edit

I am just replying back on your talk page so that you get this message. You said that my interpretation of retcon was incorrect, but you are incorrect and so is Wikipedia's information on the term. http://www.jargon.net/jargonfile/r/retcon.html That link has the accurate definition for the term. Dai Grepher 15:28, 4 August 2005 (UTC)

  • I would claim that your dictionary entry (which was created at some time earlier than 1993) has been eclipsed in popular usage by the comic book convention of a retcon, which fits the description available at Retcon. jglc | t | c 15:35, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
You point is? That is still the correct definition. A changing of facts in a series is a re-write, not a retcon. Dai Grepher 15:38, 4 August 2005 (UTC)
It depends on how the alteration of facts is performed. The revelation that Xorn is not actually Magneto, for example, is a retcon, though it substantively changes the continuity and themes of Uncanny X-Men. That is to say: It occurs in current continuity, and does not create a "parallel" version of events, but changes the interpretation of prior events. Ultimate X-Men is a rewrite of the traditional X-Men mythos. jglc | t | c 15:40, 4 August 2005 (UTC)

Tom Panarese edit

I found it funny that someone else set up a Wiki page about me. Yes, I did write a novel entitled Sayville, but to be honest, there's no need for a Wiki page. It was started by someone who has been more or less a troll on Wikipedia anyway. So, thanks for adding it to the delete pile and feel free to delete as you wish. Tpanarese 19:10, 4 August 2005 (UTC)

Purple Heart - Thanks. edit

What? edit

I should at least be allowed to add unrelated content to pages as long as all the valid content still remains and that it is still clear to the reader, right? Also, am I allowed to vandalize pages that I originally created? I mean, I didn't create the page on World War I and I don't even think of that as vandalism! But you have GOT to admit that that Austin Powers joke was pretty funny! Please reply!

User:Flarn2005 edit

Because he seems to be a misguided youth, I have to be more patient than the average troll or vandal. However, I did leave this warning on his talk page [1] that if he adds anymore nonsense that he will be blocked. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 04:10, 7 August 2005 (UTC)

User:Schmid3's response edit

Im not sure im doing this right im new to editing wikipedia..but I disagree with your edits to WPs entry. Manga Grecia and Gloria are very much a part of the WorldPower history. Tomorrow I will have the founder of MG and Gloria (and creator of WPs current rules) contribute to this discussion when I find her and she will acknowledge this fact. Gloria alone has nearly as many verifiableposts as superpower, surley the three combined deserve more than few sentence which you have devoted to them which make their combined entry smaller than the low quality and much less notable superpower. Its fine for Itake to claim to have 100k posts but have no actual evidence but I can claim a million and have just as much evidence. Ezboards stats are accurate histories of the sites and cannot be ignore. In any case I will refrain from fixing your edits until she has posted as I believe you are acting in good faith and simply need to see the evidence which I know to be forthcoming. --Schmid3 10:40, 8 August 2005 (UTC)

"Cyberstalker" edit

"I'm very confused about your reversions of The Mysterious Caravan. It seems as though the anonymous IPs were simply adding a link to your site, where more information could be found on the book. There is nothing wrong with this. Could you please explain to me why you believe that it is the work of a "pathetic, obsessed cyberstalker"? Leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. jglc | t | c 16:17, 10 August 2005 (UTC)"

  • Actually they were REMOVING the link to my site, not adding it. This person has spent hours removing links to my various series book sites under a variety of names and IP addresses (all from AOL) for the past several weeks. I believe him to be insane. --FWDixon
Hmm... I see. It's very possible that they were actually different people, removing what they felt to be a promotional link to your own site. Looking at how the edits came from different IP addresses, I am somewhat doubtful that they are personally targeting you.
It's one person from AOL, the liklihood of multiple AOL users all deciding to remove the links at the same time is fairly remote. He used to use the user name of RMedford until he got banned. He is obsessed with me and changes any page that has a link to my site, the nut!--FWDixon
All right :) I'm guessing it's not so much someone obsessed with you as somebody playing a joke, or messing with you. But I see what's going on, now. jglc | t | c 21:31, 10 August 2005 (UTC)
