Towards the end of March 1980, the weather to the north of Fiji became disturbed, with two tropical depressions developing to the north-east of Udu Point on the Fijian island of Vanua Levu. The first depression developed during March 31, while it was located about 185 km (115 mi)* to the northeast of Udu Point.
