Jamiecg74 (born August 13, 1974) is the alias name of Jamie Green who is a minor mash-up artist/celebrity from Southampton, England. He currently updates and maintains his website, http://www.jamiecg74.co.uk where his mash-ups can be found. He has previously appeared in local and national newspapers on a few occasions in the past.
His mash-ups found it's way into The Guardian newspaper on 12 October 2007 when journalist Chris Salmon had featured his website in his column, "Click to download". The article can be found here: http://music.guardian.co.uk/rock/comment/story/0,,2188795,00.html
Whizzer & Chips edit
From a young age, Jamie had a fascination with comics such as Buster and Whizzer & Chips. He used to love to spend his pocket money on a Saturday morning and go over to the newsagent across the road and spend his money on whatever comic that they had to sell. In particular he was a fan of the Whizzer & Chips comic, and took out a weekly subscription with them. He loved the jokes that the young readers of the day used to send in to the comic, and one day he decided to do the same. He sent in a couple of jokes on the back of a sealed envolope and got his mother to send it off for him. He never thought any more of it.
On Saturday 27th April 1985, out of the blue Jamie went to the newsagent to buy the latest edition of Whizzer & Chips. He was reading the jokes that the readers had sent in and to his surprise and amazement, he had the following joke printed: "Hear about the Chip-ite inventor who crossed his electric blanket with a toaster? He kept popping out of bed all night!" He was completely shocked to see his name in a national comic as he was only 10 years old at the time.
Spot the ball edit
In the summer of 1996, Jamie decided to start doing the Spot the Ball competition every week in his local newpaper called The Daily Echo. He had always seen his dad do the national Spot the ball competition, and was always fascinated with trying to guess where the ball was on the picture and to see how accurate he was when the answers were printed in the national newspapers the following week.
On Thursday 29th August 1996 he was sat at his home in Millbrook, Southampton eating his tea while watching television when he could see a strange man ring his front doorbell. Not used to seeing strangers knocking on his door, was was curions at the time as it could have been anybody. He went to answer the door and the man asked, "Are you Jamie Green?". Still curious, Jamie replied "Yes". The man then handed Jamie a white envelope and waited. Jamie opened the envolope and found a cheque inside for £1,100. He couldn't believe his eyes. The man then introduced himself as a local reporter from The Daily Echo who prouldy announced that he had just won the "nearest miss" that week and he won £1,100.
The eBay experience edit
He had also sold a Tesco carrier bag on eBay for £4.39 on October 8th 2004. This sale was featured in The Daily Mail newspaper the following day, where he gained national notoriety and found a place in eBay history.
This led to several emails from various people around the world and also a call from the producers of the Richard & Judy show which was currently being screened on Channel 4 at the time. He was all due to go to appear on the show, but was turned down at the last minute and replaced with Joan Collins and Aron Ralston who famously cut his arm off after his hand became trapped under an 800 pound boulder which had shifted and pinned him to a canyon wall in Utah's Bluejohn Canyon in that same year.
