Danny Newlands (born 2 July 1992) Welsh/Irish rugby union player who played at Scrum-half for Queensland Reds, Newport Gwent Dragons, London Irish Academy and Welsh Exiles.

Newlands, a scrum half was born in St Mary’s Hospital - London, and was a member of the age grade set up in the London Irish region for two of seasons; then got offered a scholarship to Llandovery Collage which resulted him playing in Wales. He was selected to join the Newport Dragons Academy playing in the Reebok Regional Championship with the U18’s during the 2008-2009 season. Daniel sustained a catastrophic leg brake which result months out of rugby. He battled with recovery then to secured a 1 year contract with the Queensland Reds, Brisbane. He played in the reserves and was the understudy to Will Genia. At the closing stages of his contract he made the decision to return to wales and play in the Welsh premiership for Cardiff RFC and Llandovery RFC.

Daniel was diagnosed with Bipolar Disorder short after in 2013 and decided to make an early exit from rugby.

Daniel was known for having electric footwork which kept defences guessing, a furious tackling technique and a fizzing pass.

He then worked in the City of London as as a Financial Recruitment Consultant.

Danny is now known to own his own company and is playing rugby at his local club.
