Iqbal Latif (اقبال لطیف) is a renowned social scientist, blogger, human rights activist and philanthropist of Pakistani origin. He is currently residing in Paris, France. His interest in philosophy, history, sociology, politics and science has rendered him a well-known person on social media. He thinks that new mediums of communication like Facebook and Twitter have provided a new space for democratisation of ideas and opinions without censorship or opinion leaders. His views on freedom of expression and free thinking are greatly influenced by Averroes, Spinoza, Kant and Habermas. His ideas on the respect and dignity of humanity and living species are in line with Carl Sagan and Stephen Hawking as 'the world will be at peace if we can just respect each other as who we are. Please don’t change anyone ! There is no one like us in the known universe ! Let’s love and let’s agree to respect each other diversity.' He is widely known for his keen reading and passion for debates and talk with people from different corners of the world. He never associate himself with academics as he thinks that academic life provides a narrow spectrum in which free thinking and lively debate is allowed. Being followed by free thinkers and secularists, he has a huge following on social media.
