I'm a college student, who has a part-time job with a business interested in developing their own wiki. I am trying to refresh my own wiki skills to better help them as they proceed. So I am looking to better learn how to use and communicate how to use a wiki.

The business is attempted to develop a wiki as a collaborative resource for experienced entrepreneurs to provide their success or failure stories so that other users can learn from them. So its my job to set the ground work and provide a functional tutorial so that others can learn.

Things that I am trying to Learn: edit

  • How to set up the Navigation bar?
  • What is the best way for people to maintain business entries or stories? Locked pages, bots, something else?
  • What skills should be taught to a business owner so that they can write and edit their own story? Simplicity to avoid confusion is important
  • What materials can I 'steal' from Wikipedia to make this one more coherent, I am considering the help pages, Cheatsheet...
  • How best should the business stories connect to each other? Categories? How can you link best?
  • How can I set up the main page to have a different name other than Main Page?
  • How do you link to special pages, specifically the Categories page?
Add [[Special: Categories]]
Or add [[:Help:Contents]] etc
  • How do I do interwiki linking, from my wiki to wikipedia?
  • How do I use adding pictures and videos and the like?

I'll be putting up more of the questions which I am trying to solve as they come up.
