Early Life

William James Hill was born to Virginia Hill and William J. Hill on May 18, 1970 in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Education and Employment

After completing his BA in music education at the University of Arizona in May 2001, he began his certified teaching career at Luz Academy of Tucson and Adalberto Guerrero Middle School. Pepe Barrón, CEO of Luz Social Services, hired him to create the band and general music programs for the two charter schools.

In 2010, Tucson Unified School District hired him to teach band, piano, and guitar at Pueblo Magnet High School. As the music program at Pueblo grew, he focused more on teaching only Piano and Theory, and Guitar. The popularity of fine arts classes at Pueblo grew so much during his tenure there that he coined the phrase "Pueblo's Fine Arts Renaissance" to describe his department's growth through the 2010s. In the fall of 2015, Pueblo's fine arts department grew even more, and TUSD hired a new guitar teacher. Having seven years of private piano lessons in his hometown of Vevay, Indiana, in addition to his studies at the University of Arizona, Hill chose to teach Piano and Theory exclusively, with up two four levels of classes available to his students.

Additionally, Hill began his professional music career in Tucson in 1997, accepting the position of percussionist for the Contemporary Service at Northminster Presbyterian Church.
