Biography

Adria Petty (born November 28, 1974) is an American director, editor, art director and artist. She is best known for her iconic music video work with Beyonce and Regina Spektor. Adria is also the oldest daughter of rock musician Tom Petty. Adria is currently signed as a Director with Moxie Pictures Production Company in the USA.

Career

After college Petty gathered her work experience by working as an assistant to directors such as Penny Marshall, Oscar-winner Jonathan Demme, and Oscar-nominated documentary executive Jonathan Stack.

Adria has worked with agency creative’s and recording artists to develop compelling and original visual campaigns in print, video and new media. Adria has directed videos for artist such as Regina Spektor, Beyoncé, Coldplay & Rihanna , Kings of Leon, Macy Gray, Corinne Bailey Rae, Duffy, The Duke Spirit, The Veronicas, Mat Kearney. Petty has also been asked to work outside of the music video format. In 2005 she created tour visuals for legendary rock band The Who. Adria was employed on a freelance basis as a marketing consultant at Sire records working with many artists and working on a rebrand of the label. Most notably creating signature marketing campaigns and videos for Regina Spektor.

In addition to her work in music video Petty has also worked building a commercial career creating advertising for brands such as Target, McDonald’s, Clorox, Volkswagen, Hershey,Lancôme, Converse, Mary Kay, as well as not for profits CASA and AWE.

2012, Adria was nominated for five MTV Video Music Awards for videos for Beyoncé’s “Countdown,” Coldplay and Rihanna’s “Princess of China” and Regina Spektor’s “All the Row Boats."

Adria has directed two documentaries. She premiered her controversial film about Paris Hilton “Paris, not France” at the Toronto Film Festival in 2008. Her second documentary film “Regina Spektor: Live in London” debuted in 2010 with a limited theatrical release in the USA.

Adria Petty collaborated with Anna Gabriel on a site-specific installation “Low Flame” at New York’s modern art gallery PS1 (a division of MOMA]. It detailed the life of a lonely garbage man that built his friends out of garbage.
