I am a disclosed Paid Editor as of July 2019 with Internet Archive. This page is a voluntary/non-required explanation of that in more detail.

The work I do is in relation to fixing dead links with my bot WP:WAYBACKMEDIC. The bot seeks out dead links and replaces them with archives from any of 20+ available archive providers. In determining which provider to use it goes down a list checking each one until it finds a match. The first in the list is Internet Archive, then WebCite etc.. this system has been in place since 2015 and is done this way because Internet Archive has the most archives available, and Wikipedia is nearly 90% Internet Archive. Thus, the bot is concerned with fixing link rot no matter where it can find an available archive.

My compensation with Internet Archive is limited. I estimate less than 1 in 10 hours devoted to this work is compensated, and none of the hours during development of the project over the past 4 years have been compensated. The vast majority of my time is volunteer and my loyalties are foremost to Wikipedia, where I have volunteered since 2003. Indeed I have had discussions with Internet Archive about doing what is best for Wikipedia (per policy and guidelines) - and they are also interested in doing what is best for Wikipedia.

If you have any questions or concerns please contact me on my talk page or talk page of this page.
