Ratings edit

According to Nielsen ratings, Game 1 of the 2022 World Series drew 11.48 viewers. While this was an improvement over previous two years, it was still the third least-watched World Series opener in television history.[2] Game 2 had the lowest viewership of any game in the Series at 10.8 million, while Game 5 was the most-watched, with 12.8 million total viewers. This was more consistent than the previous year, where per-game viewership ranged from 10.2 million to 14.3 million.[3]

Radio edit

ESPN Radio broadcast the World Series for the 25th consecutive year. Dan Shulman served as play-by-play announcer, with Jessica Mendoza and Eduardo Pérez as color commentators and Buster Olney as field reporter.[4] The 2022 World Series was Shulman's 12th and final championship broadcast for ESPN Radio; he was succeeded by Jon Sciambi in 2023.[5] Kevin Winter hosted the pregame shows with analyst Doug Glanville.[4]

Sponsorship edit

In 2022, Capital One took over from Bank of America as the "official bank and credit card partner" of MLB, an agreement which also made Capital One the presenting sponsor of the 2022 World Series.[6] Capital One promoted their business by offering branded orange rally towels during World Series games at Minute Maid Park and scarves at Citizens Bank Park.[7]
