My name is Gail and I live in London, UK. I started editing Wikipedia in Sept 2005.

One of my careers is as a teacher of ESOL and one of my contributions has been to improve the information on English language learning and teaching, including more of a British perspective. I re-organised the articles on American and British English differences and Language education. I've also written about the Life in the United Kingdom test for naturalisation as a British citizen. I started trying to sort information on Category:Grammar from information which is specifically about Category:English grammar but lost the will.

I want to research and document some of the first language backgrounds of my students: Somali, Tigrinya, Tigre and Blin. I've added an article on Languages of Eritrea.

I studied Linguistics at university. I speak the following languages to a greater or lesser extent: English, French, Flemish (Dutch), German, Hungarian and Mandarin Chinese. I have also studied Latin, Greek and Hebrew. A good friend of mine is from Ghana, a native speaker of Ga, so I am currently learning a little of that. I've added an article on Languages of Ghana.

I have also written about the abolition of slavery in the UK and the British Empire because of an interest in the parallels with the Trade Justice Movement.
