Redirect categorization is a practice on Wikipedia that often requires editor attention for tasks that could be automated. This page intends to brainstorm a potential solution.

{{Redirect category shell}} is a template used for redirect categorization. A solution for automatically adding categories is to incorporate detection into the template.
Some steps to implement this change include:
- Add automatic detection into {{redirect category shell}}
- Using a bot,
and then add the template into all pages that could be automatically detected. My methodology is that lists that need constantly-changing configuration (e.g. top-level domains) shoud not be automatically categorized.
- Protection templates
- Wikidata - see User:ElliBot
- To namespaces
- From draft - Draft: namespace as well as userspace drafts (could be auto-detected with Category:Draft articles)
- To section and to anchor
- To plural, from plural - would there be any cases where a "s" difference at the end would be a different meaning? See {{New page DYM}} for a template that uses this assumption
