Week 3
ACTIVITY 2- FROM SCRATCH
Chosen Wikipedia Page: The University of Sydney.
First Substantial Edit: 20 June 2003 (expanded history and campuses and included subtitles).
Although I think that the first major revision was a significant improvement on the original creation/content of the page, it primarily expanded the knowledge that was already on the page into subtitles, adding no more than two sentences of further information. If I was the second reader creating the first major revision for the page, I would have included a “History” subtitle within “Contents”, as the history of Australia’s oldest university is significant and would be highly-accessible information (even in 2003). Additionally, I would have included an “About” subtitle or separate box, that had general, unbiased information about the university, including their motto, chancellors, coat of arms, and notable alumni, amongst other things. In terms of expanding upon the information already there, I would have formatted the information more clearly by utilising subtitles, including campuses, subjects taught, and resources available, e.g. Fisher Library. Under these subtitles, I would have included more factual material than the person who completed the first major edit, to allow for a more informative experience for the viewer.
Week 6 Tutorial Activity edit
I found the lesson on Wikipedia formatting, as relevant to our first assignment, particularly helpful as it allowed us to practically apply our knowledge. I now understand the best way in which to format a Wikipedia article, and I was able to use this understanding in the formation of my first Wikipedia Page".
Article for updating: The Sims Pet Stories. - I added a citation and updated some of the features of the game.
