Rachel Grate

Rachel kathleen Grate (born May 3, 1987) is an American actress, comedienne, fit model, screenwriter, producer and director who has worked in film, television, and theater since she was 5. She's best known for playing Beth Novelli in the CBS primetime television drama series First Monday (2002) along side Joe Mantegna and Linda Purl. Her first television work was as a fashion model at age 5. After many brief appearances in such shows as Unsolved Mysteries 1987), Step By Step (1993), MADtv (1999), and Mr Show (1998), Grate was nominated for a Young Artist Award for her guest star performance in the television series E/R (1984). Despite her busy schedule at school, she managed to continue filming many commercials, and television films such as Dill Scallion (1999) opposite Billy Burke and Mockingbird Don't Sing (2001). She starred in Chicken Soup for the Soul (1999) on PAX TV, recurred in The Amanda Show (2001) , and guest starred in Judging Amy (2004) and Strong Medicine (2003).

After Grate graduated from college, she went right back to work. She started with a cat walk for a fashion show in Hollywood, and guest starred in the shows NCIS: Naval Criminal Investigative Service (2010), NCIS: Los Angeles (2011), The Young and the Restless (2009), ABC Family series The Secret Life of the American Teenager (2011), and a recurring role in Crazy Ex-Girlfriend. Her latest films include Camilla Dickinson (2012), Shoot the Moon (2012), Modern Problems (2014), and Norm of the North (2016).

In June 2013 Grate joined the campaign of Sugar (2013) as executive producer. Sugar (2013) Campaign is helping support thousands of homeless youth people. Grate is also an active supporter of Good Life With Gabby, a nonprofit organization that helps the obese children in Los Angeles.

Grate attended a California Distinguished School and in third grade she was accepted in the Gifted and Talented Education program. She also became very involved in the school's extra currinculum activities. In fourth grade she won the school's reading tournament. In fifth grade she was a finalist in the schools district speech tournament, and won a poem contest with an original poem that she wrote. She joined her school choir that year, and in 8th grade she was nominated the choir president. Grate remained a principal performer in the music/drama department, and in honors classes all the way through high school and college. She holds a Bachelor's degree in General Drama and Theater Arts with honors in acting from the University of California, Irvine (UCI).
