Popularity edit
Mondo experienced a brief period of widespread success around the time of its release in 1991 and in the following years, but that popularity has dwindled. Although it is considered by some to be 'the best children's drink ever',[2] Its popularity is widespread but sporatic and is mostly limited to cult followings. [citation needed]
Health Concerns edit
Part of the reason for its decline is that it is often assumed that it is extremely unhealthy, paticulary in relation to more traditional juices or soft drinks. This is despite the fact that it has less than half the [sugar] of most juices and pop as well as being less calorically dense at 6 [grams] and 20 [calories] per 6.5[oz]. In fact, the Mondo was originally marketed by Jel Sert as a healthy alternative to Juice and pop. [3]
The misconceptions about Mondo's unhealthy nature may come from the high level of sweetness and bright colors that characterizes its flavor. Ironically, those same traits are what likely make it appealing to children and teenagers.
Side Effects edit
Mondo has cause ill effects in some people. Whether these effects are caused by the drink itself or by the placebo effect
