Profession holds a significant meaning behind it, it is something that an individual has worked for, and plans to be in that role for an extended time or even permanently. Professions also usually have clearly defined advancement opportunities and that the public generally considers to be "status updates" and a means ofrecognizing merit. I believe that policing is a profession and not an occupation. Policing is a broad field that encompasses a large variety of other work, specialties and expertise that require formal education and training. This no doubt because I think highly of the policing role and believe that it is a path that I myself will be involved with for the rest of my life. This is different when you compare that to an occupation. Occupation holds a very limited connotation personally. Something that a person is a patt ofto pay the bills and spend their time in that one position until they eventually move on to something else.
