The Culture of New York Hip Hop has always birthed artists who are creative and have the hustle work ethic integrated into their music. Drawing from original east coast delivery and lyricism, Don Rio, mixes the North and South into a style he calls “Luxury Trap”. Seeing this talent rise over the last 4 years, drawing comparisons to Fabolous, Shy Glizzy, and Big Sean, is just the beginning.

Exploding on to the music scene in mid 2014 with the group Razor Blade Gang and their single “SuperCodeine”, Don Rio stormed the New York underground circuit with live performances and winning showcases, where labels such Roc Nation, Atlantic, and Def Jam began recognizing their talents. Realizing his passion for music could be nurtured into a career he began focusing on his solo projects in 2015.

Don Rio's first solo single release boldly entitled “Thug” came with sharp visuals epitomizing the glamour and grime of New York. After continuing to perform in New York, Baltimore, and Washington DC he released two more impressive visuals for his singles “Back On My Shit” and “FTR” in 2016. This gave him and his fans the fire to fuel his first album “The Blue Hunnitz LP” late 2017; the album features nine original songs, which showcase the artists’ true versatility and authenticity. Delivering a variety of sounds, it is no surprise it has warranted an overwhelming positive response.

Up next for the fashion, music, and business savvy artist is sure to be another hit album campaign. Don Rio plans to release a full-length album this spring/summer consisting of 15-18 tracks, infamously named “Don Dada”, that will also include some amazing features that fans won’t want to miss out on. “My songs are about having fun and also about my personality. Sometimes they’re about hard times or relationships, I just try to include a fun delivery. I’m always coming from somewhere heartfelt, and I try to stay upbeat no matter what,” Don Rio states. Stay Tuned!
