In 1923, the U.S. state of Indiana implemented a partial renumbering of the state's highway system. The renumbering occurred just four years after the beginning of Indiana's state highway system. At the time of the renumbering, road numbers were assigned numbers sequentially as highways were completed, an issue which the renumbering aimed to solve. The renumbering was intended to be permanent, but a complete renumbering occurred three years later in 1926.
