Introducing myself edit

I am Victoria Leachman, and I live in Wellington, New Zealand. I am a GLAM (Galleries, Libraries, Archives & Museums) professional having worked in museums for my entire career, initially as a museum collection manager, then as a manager of copyright processes within a museum, and now as an executive and people manager making collections more accessible and reuseable for the public. I manage teams responsible for a research library, corporate archives and records, copyright clearances and processes, collections information management and data and digital preservation workflows, imaging, publishing, and lending collection items.

I contribute to the Wikiverse through my contribution as President of Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand incorporated society - the New Zealand affiliate to Wikimedia Foundation. With Ambrosia10 I co-organise and facilitate two regular user meetups - the Aotearoa New Zealand Online monthly meetup and the Wellington monthly meetup. My content editing contributions vary. At the moment my key area of interest is working in Wikidata. See my Wikidata user page here

My ORCID is https://orcid.org/0000-0002-2008-1827

About me

I am a paid employee of the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa (Te Papa), an autonomous Crown entity of New Zealand that provides a forum in which the nation may present, explore, and preserve both the heritage of its cultures and knowledge of the natural environment in order to better understand and treasure the past, enrich the present, and meet the challenges of the future. We are working to make our holdings, publications, and other resources more accessible to the public by engaging directly with the Wikimedia Foundation projects Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons.

Conflict of interest statement

When I am editing the Wikimedia Foundation projects Wikipedia, Wikidata or contributing to Wikimedia Commons as part of my official professional duties, I always strive to strictly abide by the accepted practices on conflicts of interest, neutrality, and notability of that particular project. Because Te Papa's educational mission is in line with Wikipedia's mission to disseminate knowledge freely, I will not make edits that I do not believe are in accordance with that Wikimedia Foundation projects practices and procedures. Therefore, I will not make substantive edits to articles related to Te Papa as an agency (e.g. Te Papa), or its personnel. Instead, my edits and contributions will be to contribute subject matter expertise, for example to improve articles about Te Papa holdings or subjects relating to New Zealand (e.g. Phar Lap, New Zealand art).

You can find out more about this project at the Museum of New Zealand Te Papa Tongarewa WikiProject. Te Papa’s work on Wikipedia, Wikidata and Wikimedia Commons is being governed by internal guidelines, which we have published on-wiki in our WikiProject page. If you believe I have made an error or violated Wikipedia’s norms, please do not hesitate to contact me. My email is also listed on this page in case I am not regularly checking my talk page.

Declaration edit

I had an alternative account User:Islandbaygardener that I had for a few years but in 2017 I decided to have a clean start so started this account. I've retired the previous account as per the Clean Start process. I decided to make this change to mark a new phase in my contributions and commitment to the wiki-verse.
