This page is for testing code and templates and such. It doesn't have to have any text, but I don't like red links, so I'm adding some.

editThe wind patterns work to maintain the high temperatures by assuring that all surfaces are heated regardless of shade or other factors.[1]
In winter, precipitation approaching Death Valley is released onto the slopes to its west, causing a rain shadow. The four major mountain ranges to the west of Death Valley contribute to this effect.[2]
In summer, the geography of Death Valley with its sparse vegetation and dry air causes sunlight to heat the valley from the ground up. As always, the valley traps the hot air, and , as the hot air which rises becomes trapped by the valley walls and circulates back downward, causing more heating to increasing the air pressure. Extreme temperatures occur in Death Valley in the summer as a result.[2]
